Amos

1The words of Amos, who was among herdsmen of Thecua: which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Ozias king of Juda, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joas king of Israel two years before the earthquake.

2And he said: The Lord will roar from Sion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem: and the beautiful places of the shepherds have mourned, and the top of Carmel is withered.

3Thus saith the Lord: For three crimes of Damascus, and for four I will not convert it: because they have thrashed Galaad with iron wains.

4And I will send a fire into the house of Azael, and it shall devour the houses of Benadad.

5And I will break the bar of Damascus: and I will cut off the inhabitants from the plain of the idol, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of pleasure: and the people of Syria shall be carried away to Cyrene, saith the Lord.

6Thus saith the Lord: For three crimes of Gaza, and for four I will not convert it: because they have carried away a perfect captivity to shut them up in Edom.

7And I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, and it shall devour the houses thereof.

8And I will cut off the inhabitant from Azotus, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ascalon: and I will turn my hand against Accaron, and the rest of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord God.

9Thus saith the Lord: For three crimes of Tyre, and for four I will not convert it: because they have shut up an entire captivity in Edom, and have not remembered the covenant of brethren.

10And I will send a fire upon the wall of Tyre, and it shall devour the houses thereof.

11Thus saith the Lord: For three crimes of Edom, and for four I will not convert him: because he hath pursued his brother with the sword, and hath cast off all pity, and hath carried on his fury, and hath kept his wrath to the end.

12I will send a fire into Theman: and it shall devour the houses of Bosra.

13Thus saith the Lord: For three crimes of the children of Ammon, and for four I will not convert him: because he hath ripped up the women with child of Galaad to enlarge his border.

14And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabba: and it shall devour the houses thereof with shouting in the day of battle, and with a whirlwind in the day of trouble.

15And Melchom shall go into captivity, both he, and his princes together, saith the Lord.

3Đức Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Bởi cớ tội ác của Đa-mách đến gấp ba gấp bốn lần, nên ta không xây bỏ án phạt khỏi nó, vì chúng nó đã lấy đồ đập lúa bằng sắt mà đập Ga-la-át.

4Ta sẽ sai lửa đến trong nhà Ha-xa-ên, đặng thiêu nuốt đền đài của Bên-Ha-đát.

5Ta sẽ bẻ gãy then của Đa-mách; ta sẽ dứt dân cư khỏi trũng A-ven, và kẻ cầm cây trượng khỏi nhà Ê-đen; còn dân sự Sy-ri sẽ bị đày qua Ki-rơ làm phu tù, Đức Giê-hô-va phán vậy.

6Đức Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Bởi cớ tội ác của Ga-xa đến gấp ba gấp bốn lần, nên ta không xây bỏ án phạt khỏi nó; vì chúng nó đã đem hết dân sự đi làm phu tù mà nộp cho Ê-đôm.

7Ta sẽ sai lửa đến trên vách thành Ga-xa, nó sẽ thiêu nuốt những đền đài nó.

8Ta sẽ dứt dân cư khỏi Aùch-đốt và kẻ cầm cây trượng khỏi Aùch-ca-lôn. Ta sẽ trở tay ta nghịch cùng Eùc-rôn; và phần sót lại của người Phi-li-tin sẽ chết, Chúa Giê-hô-va phán vậy.

9Đức Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Bởi cớ tội ác của Ty-rơ đến gấp ba gấp bốn lần, nên ta không xây bỏ án phạt khỏi nó; vì chúng nó đã nộp hết dân sự cho Ê-đôm, chẳng hề nhớ đến sự giao ước anh em.

10Ta sẽ sai lửa đến trên vách thành Ty-rơ, nó sẽ thiêu nuốt những đền đài nó.

11Đức Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Bởi cớ tội ác của Ê-đôm đến gấp ba gấp bốn lần, nên ta không xây bỏ án phạt khỏi nó; vì nó đã dùng gươm đuổi theo anh em mình, bẻ cả lòng thương xót, và cơn giận nó cứ cắn xé không thôi, nuôi sự thạnh nộ đời đời.

12Ta sẽ sai lửa đến trên Thê-man, nó sẽ thiêu nuốt những đền đài của Bốt-ra.

13Đức Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Bởi cớ tội ác của con cái Am-môn đến gấp ba gấp bốn lần, nên ta không xây bỏ án phạt khỏi nó, vì chúng nó đã mổ bụng đàn bà chửa của Ga-la-át đặng mở rộng bờ cõi mình.

14Ta sẽ thắp lửa trong vách thành Ráp-ba, nó sẽ thiêu nuốt những đền đài nó giữa tiếng kêu giặc giã trong ngày chiến trận, giữa cơn gió lốc trong ngày bão táp.

15Vua chúng nó cùng các quan trưởng sẽ đi làm phu tù cùng nhau, Đức Giê-hô-va phán vậy.
