1 Chronicles

1And David being old and full of days, made Solomon his son king over Israel.

2And he gathered together all the princes of Israel, and the priests and Levites.

3And the Levites were numbered from the age of thirty years, and upwards: and there were found of them thirty-eight thousand men.

4Of these twenty-four thousand were chosen, and distributed unto the ministry of the house of the Lord: and six thousand were the overseers and judges.

5Moreover four thousand were porters: and as many singers singing to the Lord with the instruments, which he had made to sing with.

6And David distributed them into courses by the families of the sons of Levi, to wit, of Gerson, and of Caath, and of Merari.

7The sons of Gerson were Leedan and Semei.

8The sons of Leedan: the chief Jahiel, and Zethan, and Joel, three.

9The sons of Semei: Salomith, and Hosiel, and Aran, three: these were the heads of the families of Leedan.

10And the sons of Semei were Leheth, and Ziza, and Jaus, and Baria: these were the sons of Semei, four.

11And Leheth was the first, Ziza the second: but Jaus and Baria had not many children, and therefore they were counted in one family, and in one house.

12The sons of Caath were Amram, and Isaar, Hebron, and Oziel, four.

13The sons of Amram, Aaron, and Moses. And Aaron was separated to minister in the holy of holies, he and his sons for ever, and to burn incense before the Lord, according to his ceremonies, and to bless his name for ever.

14The sons also of Moses, the man of God, were numbered in the tribe of Levi.

15The sons of Moses were Gersom and Eliezer:

16The sons of Gersom: Subuel the first.

17And the sons of Eliezer were: Rohobia the first: and Eliezer had no more sons. But the sons of Rohobia were multiplied exceedingly.

18The sons of Isaar: Salomith the first.

19The sons of Hebron: Jeriau the first, Amarias the second, Jahaziel the third, Jecmaam the fourth.

20The sons of Oziel: Micha the first, Jesia the second.

21The sons of Merari: Moholi, and Musi. The sons of Moholi: Eleazar and Cia.

22And Eleazar died, and had no sons but daughters: and the sons of Cis their brethren took them.

23The sons of Musi: Moholi, and Eder, and Jerimoth, three.

24These are the sons of Levi in their kindreds and families, princes by their courses, and the number of every head that did the works of the ministry of the house of the Lord from twenty years old and upward.

25For David said: The Lord the God of Israel hath given rest to his people, and a habitation in Jerusalem for ever.

26And it shall not be the office of the Levites to carry any more the tabernacle, and all the vessels for the service thereof.

27So according to the last precepts of David, the sons of Levi are to be numbered from twenty years old and upward.

28And they are to be under the hand of the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the Lord, in the porches, and in the chambers, and in the place of purification, and in the sanctuary, and in all the works of the ministry of the temple of the Lord.

29And the priests have the charge of the leaves of proposition, and of the sacrifice of fine flour, and of the unleavened cakes, and of the fryingpan, and of the roasting, and of every weight and measure.

30And the Levites are to stand in the morning to give thanks, and to sing praises to the Lord: and in like manner in the evening,

31As well in the oblation of the holocausts of the Lord, as in the sabbaths and in the new moons, and the rest of the solemnities, according to the number and ceremonies prescribed for every thing, continually before the Lord.

32And let them keep the observances of the tabernacle of the covenant, and the ceremonies of the sanctuary, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, that they may minister in the house of the Lord.

1Lúc già nua tuổi tác, vua Đa-vít đã đặt thái tử Sa-lô-môn lên làm vua Ít-ra-en.

2Vua triệu tập tất cả các thủ lãnh trong Ít-ra-en, các tư tế và các thầy Lê-vi.

3Người ta đếm số các thầy Lê-vi từ ba mươi tuổi trở lên, tính theo đầu người được ba mươi tám ngàn thầy.

4Trong số này, hai mươi bốn ngàn điều hành công việc Nhà ĐỨC CHÚA, sáu ngàn làm ký lục và thẩm phán,

5bốn ngàn giữ cửa và bốn ngàn dùng nhạc khí vua Đa-vít đã làm mà ngợi khen ĐỨC CHÚA.

6Vua Đa-vít chia họ thành nhiều nhóm theo các con ông Lê-vi là : Ghéc-sôn, Cơ-hát và Mơ-ra-ri.

7Các con ông Ghéc-sôn là : La-đan và Sim-y.

8Các con ông La-đan : đứng đầu là Giơ-khi-ên, rồi đến Dê-tham và Giô-en, ba người.

9Các con ông Sim-y là Sơ-lô-mít, Kha-di-ên và Ha-ran, ba người. Những người này đứng đầu các gia tộc ngành La-đan.

10Các con ông Sim-y là : Gia-khát, Di-na, Giơ-út và Bơ-ri-a. Đó là các con ông Sim-y, bốn người tất cả.

11Đứng đầu là ông Gia-khát, thứ đến là ông Di-da, còn các ông Giơ-út và Bơ-ri-a không có nhiều con, nên họ làm thành một gia tộc, một nhóm duy nhất.

12Các con ông Cơ-hát là : Am-ram, Gít-ha, Khép-rôn và Út-di-ên, bốn người.

13Các con ông Am-ram là : A-ha-ron và Mô-sê. Ông A-ha-ron được tách riêng –chính ông cùng con cháu muôn thế hệ– để lo những việc cực thánh, đốt hương trước nhan ĐỨC CHÚA, phục vụ Chúa và nhân danh Người mà chúc lành cho dân đến muôn đời.

14Ông Mô-sê là người của Thiên Chúa, còn các con ông chỉ được kể là người thuộc chi tộc Lê-vi thôi.

15Các con ông là : Ghéc-sôm và Ê-li-e-de.

16Các con ông Ghéc-sôm : Sơ-vu-ên đứng đầu.

17Các con ông Ê-li-e-de : Rơ-kháp-gia đứng đầu ; nhưng ông Ê-li-e-de không có người con nào khác nữa, trái lại, ông Rơ-kháp-gia thì rất đông con.

18Các con ông Gít-ha : Sơ-lô-mít đứng đầu.

19Các con ông Khép-rôn : Giơ-ri-gia-hu đứng đầu ; thứ hai là A-mác-gia ; thứ ba, Gia-kha-di-ên và thứ bốn, Giơ-cam-am.

20Các con ông Út-di-ên : Mi-kha đứng đầu và thứ hai là Gít-si-gia.

21Các con ông Mơ-ra-ri : Mác-li và Mu-si ; các con ông Mác-li : E-la-da và Kít.

22Ông E-la-da chết, không để lại con trai, chỉ có con gái, nên các con trai ông Kít, tức là em họ các cô, đã cưới các cô làm vợ.

23Các con ông Mu-si là Mác-li, Ê-đe và Giơ-rê-mốt, ba người.

24Đó là con cháu Lê-vi theo từng gia tộc ; họ đều là những người đứng đầu các gia tộc, ai cũng được ghi đích danh trong sổ ; họ thi hành công tác phục vụ nhà ĐỨC CHÚA, từ hai mươi tuổi trở lên.

25Vua Đa-vít đã nói : “ĐỨC CHÚA, Thiên Chúa của Ít-ra-en, đã ban cho dân Người được an cư và Người ngự tại Giê-ru-sa-lem đến muôn đời.

26Và các thầy Lê-vi không còn phải di chuyển Nhà Tạm và các vật dụng dành cho việc phục vụ nhà đó nữa.”

27Quả thế, chính vì những lời cuối cùng ấy của vua Đa-vít mà đã có việc thống kê con cháu Lê-vi từ hai mươi tuổi trở lên.

28Dưới quyền con cháu A-ha-ron, họ có bổn phận phục vụ nhà ĐỨC CHÚA trong phạm vi các sân và các phòng, trong việc thanh tẩy các đồ thánh và nói chung là phục dịch nhà Thiên Chúa.

29Họ còn phải quan tâm đến bánh tiến, đến tinh bột làm lễ phẩm, đến những tấm bánh không men, bánh tráng, cũng như đến mọi dung lượng và kích thước.

30Sáng nào họ cũng phải túc trực để tôn vinh và ngợi khen ĐỨC CHÚA ; buổi chiều cũng vậy.

31Rồi phải túc trực khi người ta dâng lễ toàn thiêu kính ĐỨC CHÚA, trong các ngày Sa-bát, các ngày trăng mới, ngày lễ, theo số ngày luật định. Đó là công tác thường xuyên của họ trước nhan ĐỨC CHÚA.

32Họ có bổn phận phục vụ Lều Hội Ngộ cũng như thánh điện, và hợp tác với các con ông A-ha-ron, anh em của họ, mà lo việc Nhà ĐỨC CHÚA.
