1Now when Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the LORD’s glory filled the house.

2The priests could not enter into the LORD’s house, because the LORD’s glory filled the LORD’s house.

3All the children of Israel looked on, when the fire came down, and the LORD’s glory was on the house. They bowed themselves with their faces to the ground on the pavement, worshipped, and gave thanks to the LORD, saying,“For he is good,for his loving kindness endures forever!”

4Then the king and all the people offered sacrifices before the LORD.

5King Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty-two thousand head of cattle and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the people dedicated God’s house.

6The priests stood, according to their positions; the Levites also with instruments of music of the LORD, which David the king had made to give thanks to the LORD, when David praised by their ministry, saying “For his loving kindness endures forever.” The priests sounded trumpets before them; and all Israel stood.

7Moreover Solomon made the middle of the court that was before the LORD’s house holy; for there he offered the burnt offerings and the fat of the peace offerings, because the bronze altar which Solomon had made was not able to receive the burnt offering, the meal offering, and the fat.

8So Solomon held the feast at that time for seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great assembly, from the entrance of Hamath to the brook of Egypt.

9On the eighth day, they held a solemn assembly; for they kept the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days.

10On the twenty-third day of the seventh month, he sent the people away to their tents, joyful and glad of heart for the goodness that the LORD had shown to David, to Solomon, and to Israel his people.

11Thus Solomon finished the LORD’s house and the king’s house; and he successfully completed all that came into Solomon’s heart to make in the LORD’s house and in his own house.

12Then the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said to him, “I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place for myself for a house of sacrifice.

13“If I shut up the sky so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence amongst my people,

14if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

15Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to prayer that is made in this place.

16For now I have chosen and made this house holy, that my name may be there forever; and my eyes and my heart will be there perpetually.

17“As for you, if you will walk before me as David your father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded you, and will keep my statutes and my ordinances,

18then I will establish the throne of your kingdom, according as I covenanted with David your father, saying, ‘There shall not fail you a man to be ruler in Israel.’

19But if you turn away and forsake my statutes and my commandments which I have set before you, and go and serve other gods and worship them,

20then I will pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have made holy for my name, I will cast out of my sight, and I will make it a proverb and a byword amongst all peoples.

21This house, which is so high, everyone who passes by it will be astonished and say, ‘Why has the LORD done this to this land and to this house?’

22They shall answer, ‘Because they abandoned the LORD, the God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and took other gods, worshipped them, and served them. Therefore he has brought all this evil on them.’”

1Vua Sa-lô-môn cầu nguyện xong, thì có lửa từ trời xuống đốt hết lễ toàn thiêu và các tế vật, và vinh quang của ĐỨC CHÚA tràn ngập Đền Thờ.

2Các tư tế không thể vào Đền Thờ của ĐỨC CHÚA, vì vinh quang của ĐỨC CHÚA tràn ngập Đền Thờ.

3Toàn thể con cái Ít-ra-en thấy lửa tràn xuống và vinh quang của ĐỨC CHÚA ngự trên Đền Thờ, thì phủ phục xuống đất, mặt sát nền nhà ; họ thờ lạy và tôn vinh ĐỨC CHÚA’ vì Chúa nhân từ, vì muôn ngàn đời Chúa vẫn trọn tình thương’.

4Vua cùng toàn dân dâng hy lễ trước nhan ĐỨC CHÚA.

5Vua Sa-lô-môn sát tế hai mươi hai ngàn con bò và một trăm hai mươi ngàn con chiên ; vua cùng toàn dân cung hiến Đền Thờ của Thiên Chúa.

6Các tư tế ai lo phận sự nấy, còn các thầy Lê-vi thì sử dụng các nhạc cụ của ĐỨC CHÚA do vua Đa-vít làm ra để hoà theo những bản thánh ca ; họ ca ngợi ĐỨC CHÚA’ vì muôn ngàn đời Chúa vẫn trọn tình thương’. Họ hát những bài ca ngợi do vua Đa-vít sáng tác. Bên cạnh họ, các tư tế thổi kèn, còn toàn thể Ít-ra-en thì đứng.

7Vua Sa-lô-môn thánh hiến phần giữa của tiền đình ở trước Nhà ĐỨC CHÚA. Chính tại đây, vua dâng lễ toàn thiêu và mỡ béo của các lễ kỳ an, vì bàn thờ bằng đồng vua Sa-lô-môn đã làm không đủ chứa lễ toàn thiêu, lễ phẩm và mỡ.

8Dịp này, vua Sa-lô-môn mừng lễ trong bảy ngày, và cùng với vua có toàn thể Ít-ra-en, một cộng đoàn rất lớn gồm những người từ lối vào Cửa Ải Kha-mát tới suối Ai-cập kéo về.

9Ngày thứ tám, một cuộc họp long trọng được tổ chức, vì trước đó người ta đã cung hiến bàn thờ trong bảy ngày và mừng lễ trong bảy ngày nữa.

10Ngày thứ hai mươi ba tháng thứ bảy, vua giải tán dân. Ai nấy trở về lều mình, lòng vui mừng hân hoan vì mọi sự tốt lành ĐỨC CHÚA đã làm cho vua Đa-vít tôi tớ Người và cho Ít-ra-en dân Người.

11Sau khi vua Sa-lô-môn hoàn tất Đền Thờ ĐỨC CHÚA và cung điện nhà vua, kể cả mọi công trình vua dự tính thực hiện về Đền Thờ ĐỨC CHÚA và về cung điện nhà vua,

12thì ĐỨC CHÚA hiện ra với vua ban đêm và phán : “Ta đã nghe lời ngươi cầu nguyện và đã chọn nơi này làm nhà dâng hy lễ cho Ta.

13Khi Ta để cho trời đóng lại, không cho mưa, khi Ta truyền cho châu chấu phá hoại đất đai, khi Ta cho dịch tễ hoành hành trong dân Ta,

14nếu dân Ta, dân vốn kêu cầu Danh Ta, mà biết hạ mình xuống khẩn nguyện và tìm kiếm Nhan Ta, từ bỏ những con đường xấu xa mà trở lại, thì Ta, từ trời, Ta sẽ nghe và thứ tha tội lỗi nó và sẽ phục hưng xứ sở của nó.

15Từ nay, Ta sẽ ghé mắt nhìn và lắng tai nghe lời cầu nguyện dâng lên ở nơi đây,

16vì Ta đã chọn và thánh hoá nhà này, để muôn đời Danh Ta ngự tại đây ; Ta sẽ để mắt nhìn và để lòng ưa thích nơi này mãi mãi.

17Còn ngươi, nếu ngươi bước đi trước Nhan Ta, như Đa-vít thân phụ ngươi, mà thi hành mọi điều Ta truyền cho ngươi, và tuân giữ các chỉ thị và luật pháp của Ta,

18thì Ta sẽ củng cố ngai vàng của ngươi, như Ta đã đoan hứa với Đa-vít thân phụ ngươi rằng : ‘Ngươi sẽ không thiếu người cai trị Ít-ra-en.’

19Nhưng nếu các ngươi tráo trở, bỏ các chỉ thị và mệnh lệnh Ta đã ban bố cho các ngươi, mà đi làm tôi các thần khác và thờ lạy chúng,

20thì Ta sẽ tiêu diệt các ngươi khỏi phần đất Ta đã ban cho các ngươi. Còn Đền Thờ Ta đã thánh hoá để kính Danh Ta, Ta sẽ loại khỏi Nhan Ta, và sẽ biến thành bia miệng cho mọi dân tộc đàm tiếu.

21Đền Thờ này, dù cao trọng đến đâu, cũng sẽ thành đống hoang tàn, khiến mọi kẻ qua lại phải sững sờ mà nói ; ‘Tại sao ĐỨC CHÚA đã xử với xứ sở này, với Đền Thờ này như thế ?’

22Và người ta sẽ trả lời : ‘Tại chúng đã bỏ ĐỨC CHÚA, Thiên Chúa của chúng, Đấng đã đưa tổ tiên chúng ra khỏi đất Ai-cập ; chúng đã gắn bó với các thần ngoại, sụp lạy và làm tôi các thần ấy, nên ĐỨC CHÚA đã giáng xuống đầu chúng tất cả những tai hoạ này.’”
