Isaiah

1Khốn cho những người làm luật bất côngvà những người ban hành luật áp bức.

2Họ tước đoạt công bằng của người nghèo,và từ chối công lý của người khốn khó giữa dân Ta.Họ khiến quả phụ làm mồi ngonvà cô nhi làm chiến lợi phẩm.

3Các ngươi sẽ làm gì trong ngày Ta hình phạt,khi Ta giáng tai họa từ xa?Các ngươi sẽ cầu cứu với ai?Các ngươi sẽ giấu của cải nơi nào?

4Các ngươi sẽ lom khom trong hàng tù nhânhay nằm giữa những người chết.Dù vậy, cơn giận của Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ không giảm.Tay Ngài sẽ vẫn đưa lên.

Sự Đoán Phạt A-sy-ri

5“Khốn cho A-sy-ri là cây roi của cơn giận Ta.Ta dùng nó như cây gậy của cơn giận Ta.

6Ta sẽ sai A-sy-ri hình phạt nước vô đạo,chống lại dân đã chọc giận Ta.A-sy-ri sẽ hành hạ chúng,chà đạp chúng như bụi đất dưới chân.

7Tuy nhiên, vua A-sy-ri sẽ không hiểu nó là dụng cụ của Ta;trí của nó cũng không hiểu như vậy.Chương trình của nó chỉ đơn giản là tiêu diệt,chia cắt nhiều quốc gia.

8Nó sẽ nói:‘Mỗi tướng lãnh của ta sẽ là một vị vua.

9Chúng ta sẽ tiêu diệt Canh-nô như Cát-kê-mít.Ha-mát sẽ sụp đổ trước chúng ta như Ác-bác. Và chúng ta sẽ đánh tan Sa-ma-ri như đã diệt Đa-mách.

10Phải, chúng ta đã chiến thắng nhiều quốc gia,thần của chúng còn lớn hơn các thần của Giê-ru-sa-lem và Sa-ma-ri.

11Vì thế, chúng ta sẽ đánh bại Giê-ru-sa-lem và thần tượng của nó,như chúng ta đã hủy diệt Sa-ma-ri cùng thần của nó.’ ”

12Sau khi Chúa dùng vua A-sy-ri để hoàn tất ý định của Ngài trên Núi Si-ôn và Giê-ru-sa-lem, Chúa sẽ trở lại chống nghịch vua A-sy-ri và hình phạt vua—vì vua đã kiêu căng và ngạo mạn.

13Vua ấy đã khoác lác:“Bằng sức mạnh của tay ta đã làm những việc này.Với khôn ngoan của mình, ta đã lên kế hoạch. Ta đã dời đổi biên giới các nước, cướp phá các kho tàng. Ta đã đánh hạ vua của chúng như một dũng sĩ.

14Tay ta đã chiếm châu báu của chúngvà thu tóm các nước như người ta nhặt trứng nơi tổ chim.Không ai có thể vỗ cánh chống lại tahay mở miệng kêu phản đối.”

15Nhưng cây rìu có thể khoác lác hơn người cầm rìu chăng?Có phải cái cưa dám chống lại người cầm cưa? Hay cái roi có thể điều khiển người cầm roi? Hoặc cây gậy gỗ tự nó bước đi được sao?

16Vì thế, Chúa là Chúa Hằng Hữu Vạn Quân,sẽ giáng họa giữa vòng dũng sĩ kiêu căng của A-sy-ri, và vinh hoa phú quý của chúng sẽ tàn như bị lửa tiêu diệt.

17Chúa, Nguồn Sáng của Ít-ra-ên, sẽ là lửa;Đấng Thánh sẽ như ngọn lửa.Chúa sẽ tiêu diệt gai gốc và bụi gai bằng lửa,thiêu đốt chúng chỉ trong một đêm.

18Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ hủy diệt vinh quang của A-sy-rinhư lửa hủy diệt một rừng cây trù phú; chúng sẽ bị tan xác như người kiệt lực hao mòn.

19Tất cả vinh quang của rừng rậm,chỉ còn lại vài cây sống sót— ít đến nỗi một đứa trẻ cũng có thể đếm được!

Hy Vọng cho Dân Chúa Hằng Hữu

20Trong ngày ấy, những người còn lại trong Ít-ra-ên,những người sống sót của nhà Gia-cốp,sẽ không còn nương cậy vào các đồng minhlà những người tìm cách tiêu diệt họ.Nhưng họ sẽ thật lòng tin cậy Chúa Hằng Hữulà Đấng Thánh của Ít-ra-ên.

21Đoàn dân sống sót sẽ trở lại;phải, dân sót lại của nhà Gia-cốp sẽ quay về với Đức Chúa Trời Toàn Năng.

22Nhưng dù người Ít-ra-ên đông như cát bờ biển,chỉ còn một số ít trong số họ sẽ quay về.Chúa Hằng Hữu đã định sự hủy diệt cách công chính cho dân Ngài.

23Phải, Chúa là Chúa Hằng Hữu Vạn Quân,đã định sẵn sẽ hủy diệt đất nước này.

24Vì thế, đây là điều Chúa Hằng Hữu Vạn Quân phán: “Hỡi dân Ta tại Si-ôn, đừng sợ quân đội A-sy-ri khi chúng áp bức các con bằng roi và gậy như người Ai Cập ngày xưa.

25Chỉ một thời gian ngắn, cơn giận Ta trên các con sẽ chấm dứt, và cơn thịnh nộ Ta sẽ nổi lên để hủy diệt chúng.”

26Chúa Hằng Hữu Vạn Quân sẽ đưa roi đánh chúng như Ngài đã đánh quân Ma-đi-an tại tảng đá Hô-rếp, và như Ngài đã đưa gậy lên để chôn vùi quân Ai Cập dưới lòng biển.

27Trong ngày ấy, Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ xức dầu cho dân Ngài,Ngài sẽ bẽ gãy ách nô lệ và cất gánh ấy khỏi vai họ.

28Kìa, quân đội A-sy-ri đã chiếm đóng Ai-gia.Chúng tiến đánh Mi-gơ-rôn, và cất quân cụ của chúng tại Mích-ma.

29Chúng vượt qua đèovà hạ trại tại Ghê-ba.Dân thành Ra-ma khiếp sợ.Toàn dân Ghi-bê-a, thành của Sau-lơ chạy trốn.

30Người Ga-lim hãy thét lên!Hãy cảnh báo người La-ít. Ôi, thật tội nghiệp người A-na-tốt!

31Dân thành Mát-mê-na chạy trốn.Dân thành Ghê-bim tìm chỗ lánh nạn.

32Nhưng ngày ấy chúng dừng tại Nóp.Chúng sẽ vung tay nghịch cùng Núi Si-ôn xinh đẹp, đồi núi Giê-ru-sa-lem.

33Nhưng kìa! Chúa là Chúa Hằng Hữu Vạn Quân,sẽ chặt các cây lớn của A-sy-ri với quyền năng vĩ đại!Chúa sẽ hạ những kẻ kiêu ngạo.Nhiều cây cao lớn sẽ bị đốn xuống.

34Chúa sẽ dùng rìu đốn rừng rậm,Li-ban sẽ ngã trước Đấng Quyền Năng.

1Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed;

2To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless!

3And what will ye do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from far? to whom will ye flee for help? and where will ye leave your glory?

4Without me they shall bow down under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

5¶ O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation.

6I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

7Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few.

8For he saith, Are not my princes altogether kings?

9Is not Calno as Carchemish? is not Hamath as Arpad? is not Samaria as Damascus?

10As my hand hath found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria;

11Shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols?

12Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.

13For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man:

14And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs that are left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped.

15Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith? or shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake itself against them that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself, as if it were no wood.

16Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory he shall kindle a burning like the burning of a fire.

17And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day;

18And shall consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body: and they shall be as when a standardbearer fainteth.

19And the rest of the trees of his forest shall be few, that a child may write them.

20¶ And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.

21The remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God.

22For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness.

23For the Lord GOD of hosts shall make a consumption, even determined, in the midst of all the land.

24¶ Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, O my people that dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt.

25For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall cease, and mine anger in their destruction.

26And the LORD of hosts shall stir up a scourge for him according to the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb: and as his rod was upon the sea, so shall he lift it up after the manner of Egypt.

27And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

28He is come to Aiath, he is passed to Migron; at Michmash he hath laid up his carriages:

29They are gone over the passage: they have taken up their lodging at Geba; Ramah is afraid; Gibeah of Saul is fled.

30Lift up thy voice, O daughter of Gallim: cause it to be heard unto Laish, O poor Anathoth.

31Madmenah is removed; the inhabitants of Gebim gather themselves to flee.

32As yet shall he remain at Nob that day: he shall shake his hand against the mount of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.

33Behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, shall lop the bough with terror: and the high ones of stature shall be hewn down, and the haughty shall be humbled.

34And he shall cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Lebanon shall fall by a mighty one.
