1Khi Đức Giê-su ở trên núi xuống, đám đông lũ lượt đi theo Người.

2Bỗng có một người mắc bệnh phong tiến lại, bái lạy Người và nói : “Thưa Ngài, nếu Ngài muốn, Ngài có thể làm cho tôi được sạch.”

3Người giơ tay đụng vào anh và bảo : “Tôi muốn, anh sạch đi.” Lập tức, anh được sạch bệnh phong.

4Rồi Đức Giê-su bảo anh : “Coi chừng, đừng nói với ai cả, nhưng hãy đi trình diện tư tế và dâng của lễ, như ông Mô-sê đã truyền, để làm chứng cho người ta biết.”

5Khi Đức Giê-su vào thành Ca-phác-na-um, có một viên đại đội trưởng đến gặp Người và nài xin :

6“Thưa Ngài, tên đầy tớ của tôi bị tê bại nằm liệt ở nhà, đau đớn lắm.”

7Người nói : “Chính tôi sẽ đến chữa nó.”

8Viên đại đội trưởng đáp : “Thưa Ngài, tôi chẳng đáng Ngài vào nhà tôi, nhưng xin Ngài chỉ nói một lời là đầy tớ tôi được khỏi bệnh.

9Vì tôi đây, tuy dưới quyền kẻ khác, tôi cũng có lính tráng dưới quyền tôi. Tôi bảo người này : ‘Đi !’, là nó đi, bảo người kia : ‘Đến !’, là nó đến, và bảo người nô lệ của tôi : ‘Làm cái này !’, là nó làm.”

10Nghe vậy, Đức Giê-su ngạc nhiên và nói với những kẻ theo Người rằng : “Tôi bảo thật các ông : tôi không thấy một người Ít-ra-en nào có lòng tin như thế.

11Tôi nói cho các ông hay : Từ phương đông phương tây, nhiều người sẽ đến dự tiệc cùng các tổ phụ Áp-ra-ham, I-xa-ác và Gia-cóp trong Nước Trời.

12Nhưng con cái Nước Trời thì sẽ bị quăng ra chỗ tối tăm bên ngoài, ở đó người ta sẽ phải khóc lóc nghiến răng.”

13Rồi Đức Giê-su nói với viên đại đội trưởng rằng : “Ông cứ về đi ! Ông tin thế nào thì được như vậy !” Và ngay giờ đó, người đầy tớ được khỏi bệnh.

14Đức Giê-su đến nhà ông Phê-rô, thấy bà mẹ vợ ông đang nằm liệt và lên cơn sốt.

15Người đụng vào tay bà, cơn sốt dứt ngay và bà trỗi dậy phục vụ Người.

16Chiều đến, người ta đem nhiều kẻ bị quỷ ám tới gặp Đức Giê-su. Người nói một lời là trừ được các thần dữ và Người chữa lành mọi kẻ ốm đau,

17để ứng nghiệm lời ngôn sứ I-sai-a : *Người đã mang lấy các tật nguyền của ta và gánh lấy các bệnh hoạn của ta.*

18Thấy xung quanh có đám đông, Đức Giê-su ra lệnh sang bờ bên kia.

19Một kinh sư tiến đến thưa Người rằng : “Thưa Thầy, Thầy đi đâu, tôi cũng xin đi theo.”

20Đức Giê-su trả lời : “Con chồn có hang, chim trời có tổ, nhưng Con Người không có chỗ tựa đầu.”

21Một môn đệ khác thưa với Người : “Thưa Ngài, xin cho phép con về chôn cất cha con trước đã.”

22Đức Giê-su bảo : “Anh hãy đi theo tôi, cứ để kẻ chết chôn kẻ chết của họ.”

23Đức Giê-su xuống thuyền, các môn đệ đi theo Người.

24Bỗng nhiên biển động mạnh khiến sóng ập vào thuyền, nhưng Người vẫn ngủ.

25Các ông lại gần đánh thức Người và nói : “Thưa Ngài, xin cứu chúng con, chúng con chết mất !”

26Đức Giê-su nói : “Sao nhát thế, hỡi những người kém lòng tin !” Rồi Người trỗi dậy, ngăm đe gió và biển : biển liền lặng như tờ.

27Người ta ngạc nhiên và nói : “Ông này là người thế nào mà cả đến gió và biển cũng tuân lệnh ?”

28Khi Đức Giê-su sang bờ bên kia, và đến miền Ga-đa-ra, thì có hai người bị quỷ ám từ trong đám mồ mả ra đón Người ; chúng rất dữ tợn, đến nỗi không ai dám qua lại lối ấy.

29Chúng la lên rằng : “Hỡi Con Thiên Chúa, chuyện chúng tôi can gì đến ông ? Chưa tới lúc mà ông đã đến đây làm khổ chúng tôi sao ?”

30Khi ấy, ở đàng xa, có một bầy heo rất đông đang ăn.

31Bọn quỷ nài xin Người rằng : “Nếu ông đuổi chúng tôi, thì xin sai chúng tôi nhập vào bầy heo kia.”

32Người bảo : “Đi đi !” Chúng liền ra khỏi hai người đó và nhập vào bầy heo. Thế là tất cả bầy heo từ trên sườn núi lao xuống biển và chết đuối hết.

33Các người chăn heo chạy trốn vào thành, kể lại mọi sự, và những gì đã xảy ra cho những người bị quỷ ám.

34Bấy giờ, cả thành ra đón Đức Giê-su, và khi gặp Người, họ xin Người rời khỏi vùng đất của họ.

1When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.

2And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

3And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying,I will; be thou clean.And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

4And Jesus saith unto him,See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

5¶ And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,

6And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.

7And Jesus saith unto him,I will come and heal him.

8The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.

9For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

10When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed,Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

11And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

12But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

13And Jesus said unto the centurion,Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee.And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

14¶ And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid, and sick of a fever.

15And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.

16¶ When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:

17That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

18¶ Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side.

19And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.

20And Jesus saith unto him,The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

21And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

22But Jesus said unto him,Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

23¶ And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.

24And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.

25And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.

26And he saith unto them,Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

27But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

28¶ And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.

29And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

30And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding.

31So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine.

32And he said unto them,Go.And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.

33And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils.

34And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.
