Revelation

1And the fifth angel sounded the trumpet, and I saw a star fall from heaven upon the earth, and there was given to him the key of the bottomless pit.

2And he opened the bottomless pit: and the smoke of the pit arose, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened with the smoke of the pit.

3And from the smoke of the pit there came out locusts upon the earth. And power was given to them, as the scorpions of the earth have power:

4And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, nor any green thing, nor any tree: but only the men who have not the sign of God on their foreheads.

5And it was given unto them that they should not kill them; but that they should torment them five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion when he striketh a man.

6And in those days men shall seek death, and shall not find it: and they shall desire to die, and death shall fly from them.

7And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle: and on their heads were, as it were, crowns like gold: and their faces were as the faces of men.

8And they had hair as the hair of women; and their teeth were as lions:

9And they had breastplates as breastplates of iron, and the noise of their wings was as the noise of chariots and many horses running to battle.

10And they had tails like to scorpions, and there were stings in their tails; and their power was to hurt men five months. And they had over them

11A king, the angel of the bottomless pit; whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek Apollyon; in Latin Exterminans,

12One woe is past, and behold there come yet two woes more hereafter.

13And the sixth angel sounded the trumpet: and I heard a voice from the four horns of the great altar, which is before the eyes of God,

14Saying to the sixth angel, who had the trumpet: Loose the four angels, who are bound in the great river Euphrates.

15And the four angels were loosed, who were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year: for to kill the third part of men.

16And the number of the army of horsemen was twenty thousand times ten thousand. And I heard the number of them.

17And thus I saw the horses in the vision: and they that sat on them, had breastplates of fire and of hyacinth and of brimstone, and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions: and from their mouths proceeded fire, and smoke, and brimstone.

18And by these three plagues was slain the third part of men, by the fire and by the smoke and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.

19For the power of the horses is in their mouths, and in their tails. For, their tails are like to serpents, and have heads: and with them they hurt.

20And the rest of the men, who were not slain by these plagues, did not do penance from the works of their hands, that they should not adore devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and wood, which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:

21Neither did they penance from their murders, nor from their sorceries, nor from their fornication, nor from their thefts.

1Tiếng kèn của thiên thần thứ năm nổi lên. Tôi thấy một ngôi sao từ trời sa xuống đất ; ngôi sao ấy nhận được chìa khoá của giếng vực thẳm.

2Ngôi sao mở giếng vực thẳm, và một đám khói từ giếng bốc lên, giống như khói một cái lò lớn, khiến mặt trời và không khí tối sầm lại vì khói của giếng ấy.

3Từ đám khói ấy, châu chấu bay ra khắp mặt đất. Chúng nhận được quyền phép như quyền phép của bọ cạp trên mặt đất.

4Chúng bị cấm không được phá hại cỏ trên mặt đất, mọi loài xanh tươi và mọi cây cối, mà chỉ được phá hại những người không mang ấn của Thiên Chúa trên trán.

5Chúng không được phép giết họ, mà chỉ được gây khổ hình cho họ trong vòng năm tháng. Khổ hình chúng gây ra không khác gì khổ hình của người bị bọ cạp đốt.

6Trong những ngày ấy, người ta sẽ tìm cái chết mà không thấy, họ mong chết mà cái chết lại trốn họ.

7Hình dạng châu chấu giống như ngựa sẵn sàng vào trận ; trên đầu chúng có cái gì như thể triều thiên bằng vàng, còn mặt chúng thì như mặt người.

8Chúng có tóc như tóc đàn bà, có răng tựa răng sư tử.

9Ngực chúng khác nào áo giáp sắt, và tiếng cánh chúng đập, như tiếng xe nhiều ngựa kéo đang xông vào trận.

10Chúng có đuôi như đuôi bọ cạp, mang nọc ; đuôi chúng có quyền phép làm hại người ta trong vòng năm tháng.

11Vua cai trị chúng là thần sứ của vực thẳm, tên Híp-ri là “A-vát-đôn”, còn tên Hy-lạp là “A-pô-ly-on”.

12Cái Khốn thứ nhất đã qua, nhưng này còn hai cái Khốn nữa theo sau.

13Tiếng kèn của thiên thần thứ sáu nổi lên. Tôi nghe có một tiếng phát ra từ bốn sừng của bàn thờ bằng vàng ở trước nhan Thiên Chúa.

14Tiếng ấy bảo thiên thần thứ sáu đang cầm kèn : “Hãy thả bốn vị thiên thần đang bị trói ở sông cả Êu-phơ-rát.”

15Bốn thiên thần được thả ra, các vị sẵn sàng để đúng vào năm, tháng, ngày, giờ ấy thì giết một phần ba loài người.

16Số các đạo quân là hai trăm triệu kỵ binh ; tôi được nghe biết con số ấy.

17Trong thị kiến, tôi thấy ngựa và người cưỡi ngựa như thế này : chúng mặc áo giáp màu lửa, màu huỳnh ngọc và diêm sinh ; đầu ngựa như đầu sư tử, và mõm chúng phun ra lửa, khói và diêm sinh.

18Một phần ba loài người bị ba tai ương ấy giết, tức là lửa, khói và diêm sinh từ mõm ngựa phun ra.

19Quả thế, quyền phép của ngựa thì ở mõm và ở đuôi chúng, vì đuôi chúng như rắn, có đầu, và chúng dùng đầu ấy mà làm hại.

20Những người còn lại, những người không bị các tai ương ấy giết, vẫn không chịu hối cải mà từ bỏ các sản phẩm tay chúng làm ra, vẫn cứ thờ lạy ma quỷ và các tượng thần bằng vàng, bạc, đồng, đá, gỗ, là những tượng không thấy, không nghe và không đi được.

21Họ không chịu hối cải mà từ bỏ những tội giết người, phù phép, gian dâm, trộm cắp của họ.
