2 Samuel

1And when David was a little past the top of the hill, behold Siba the servant of Miphiboseth came to meet him with two asses, laden with two hundred loaves of bread, and a hundred bunches of raisins, a hundred cakes of figs, and a vessel of wine.

2And the king said to Siba: What mean these things? And Siba answered: The asses are for the king’s household to sit on: and the loaves and the figs for thy servants to eat, and the wine to drink if any man be faint in the desert.

3And the king said: Where is thy master’s son? And Siba answered the king: He remained in Jerusalem, saying: Today will the house of Israel restore me the kingdom of my father.

4And the king said to Siba: I give thee all that belonged to Miphiboseth. And Siba said: I beseech thee let me find grace before thee, my lord, O king.

5And king David came as far as Bahurim: and behold there came out from thence a man of the kindred of the house of Saul named Semei, the son of Gera, and coming out he cursed as he went on,

6And he threw stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the people, and all the warriors walked on the right, and on the left side of the king.

7And thus said Semei when he cursed the king: Come out, come out, thou man of blood, and thou man of Belial.

8The Lord hath repaid thee for all the blood of the house of Saul: because thou hast usurped the kingdom in his stead, and the Lord hath given the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son: and behold thy evils press upon thee, because thou art a man of blood.

9And Abisai the son of Sarvia said to the king: Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? I will go, and cut off his head.

10And the king said: What have I to do with you, ye sons of Sarvia? Let him alone and let him curse: for the Lord hath bid him curse David: and who is he that shall dare say, why hath he done so?

11And the king said to Abisai, and to all his servants: Behold my son, who came forth from my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now a son of Jemini? let him alone that he may curse as the Lord hath bidden him.

12Perhaps the Lord may look upon my affliction, and the Lord may render me good for the cursing of this day.

13And David and his men with him went by the way. And Semei by the hill’s side went over against him, cursing, and casting stones at him, and scattering earth.

14And the king and all the people with him came weary, and refreshed themselves there.

15But Absalom and all his people came into Jerusalem, and Achitophel was with him.

16And when Chusai the Arachite, David’s friend, was come to Absalom, he said to him: God save thee, O king, God save thee, O king.

17And Absalom said to him: Is this thy kindness to thy friend? Why wentest thou not with thy friend?

18And Chusai answered Absalom: Nay: for I will be his, whom the Lord hath chosen, and all this people, and all Israel, and with him will I abide.

19Besides this, whom shall I serve? is it not the king’s son? as I have served thy father, so will I serve thee also.

20And Absalom said to Achitophel: Consult what we are to do.

21And Achitophel said to Absalom: Go in to the concubines of thy father, whom he hath left to keep the house: that when all Israel shall hear that thou hast disgraced thy father, their hands may be strengthened with thee.

22So they spread a tent for Absalom on the top of the house, and he went in to his father’s concubines before all Israel.

23Now the counsel of Achitophel, which he gave in those days, was as if a man should consult God: so was all the counsel of Achitophel, both when he was with David, and when he was with Absalom.

1Đa-vít vừa trèo qua khỏi chót núi, thì Xíp-ba, tôi tớ của Mê-phi-bô-sết, đến đón vua với hai con lừa mang bành chở hai trăm ổ bánh, một trăm cái bánh nhỏ bằng trái nho, một trăm cái bánh nhỏ bằng trái vả, và một bầu rượu nho.

2Vua hỏi Xíp-ba rằng: Ngươi có ý dùng điều đó làm chi? Xíp-ba thưa rằng: Hai con lừa dùng làm vật cỡi cho nhà vua; bánh và trái nho dùng làm đồ ăn cho các người trai trẻ, còn rượu để dùng cho những kẻ mệt nhọc trong đồng vắng uống.

3Vua hỏi: Vậy, con trai của chủ ngươi đâu? Xíp-ba thưa: Người ở lại Giê-ru-sa-lem, vì nói rằng: Ngày nay nhà Y-sơ-ra-ên sẽ trả nước của cha ta lại cho ta.

4Vua bèn nói cùng Xíp-ba rằng: Thế thì, mọi vật thuộc về Mê-phi-bô-sết đều nên của ngươi. Xíp-ba tiếp: Nầy tôi phục dưới chân vua. Vua ôi, ước gì tôi được ơn trước mặt vua chúa tôi!

5Vua Đa-vít vừa đến Ba-hu-rim, thấy ở đó đi ra một người về dòng dõi nhà Sau-lơ, tên là Si-mê-i, con trai của Ghê-ra. Người vừa đi tới vừa rủa sả,

6ném đá vào Đa-vít và các tôi tớ của vua; cả dân sự và các dõng sĩ đều vây phủ vua bên hữu và bên tả.

7Si-mê-i rủa sả Đa-vít như lời nầy: ù người huyết, người gian tà kia! hãy đi nà, hãy đi nà!

8Người đã tự làm vua thay vì Sau-lơ, nên bây giờ Đức Giê-hô-va khiến những huyết của nhà người đổ lại trên ngươi; Ngài sẽ phó nước vào tay Aùp-sa-lôm, con trai ngươi; và kìa, chính ngươi bị hoạn nạn, bởi vì ngươi là một người huyết.

9Bấy giờ, A-bi-sai, con trai của Xê-ru-gia, tâu với vua rằng: Cớ sao con chó chết kia dám mắng vua chúa tôi? Hãy để tôi đi chém đầu nó.

10Nhưng vua đáp rằng: Hỡi các con trai Xê-ru-gia, ta có can hệ gì với các ngươi? Hãy để Si-mê-i rủa sả. Aáy là Đức Giê-hô-va đã phán cùng người rằng: Hãy rủa sả Đa-vít. Vậy ai dám nói cùng người rằng: Cớ sao ngươi làm như vậy?

11Đoạn, Đa-vít nói với A-bi-sai và các tôi tớ mình rằng: Kìa, con ruột ta, là kẻ do lòng ta sanh ra, còn muốn hại mạng sống ta thay; phương chi người Bên-gia-min nầy! Hãy để cho nó làm, để nó rủa sả, vì Đức Giê-hô-va đã phán dặn nó làm vậy.

12Có lẽ Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ đoái xem sự hoạn nạn ta, lấy phước trả lại thế cho sự rủa sả mà ta bị ngày nay.

13Đa-vít và các tôi tớ người cứ đi; còn Si-mê-i đi theo hông núi, đối ngang Đa-vít. Người vừa đi vừa rủa sả Đa-vít, ném đá người, và hất bụi lên.

14Như vậy, vua và cả dân chúng theo vua đều mệt nhọc, đi đến một nơi, và nghỉ khỏe tại đó.

15Aùp-sa-lôm và hết thảy người Y-sơ-ra-ên đều đã vào Giê-ru-sa-lem rồi, và A-hi-tô-phe theo người.

16Khi Hu-sai, người Aït-kít, bạn hữu của Đa-vít, đến bên Aùp-sa-lôm, thì nói rằng: Vua vạn tuế! vua vạn tuế!

17Aùp-sa-lôm nói với Hu-sai rằng: Aáy có phải là sự nhơn từ mà người dùng đãi bạn ngươi ư? Sao ngươi không đi theo bạn ngươi?

18Hu-sai đáp cùng Aùp-sa-lôm rằng: Không; tôi sẽ thuộc về ai là người được Đức Giê-hô-va lựa chọn, được dân sự nầy và cả dân Y-sơ-ra-ên lựa chọn; tôi sẽ ở cùng người đó.

19Vả lại, ai là người tôi sẽ phục sự? Há chẳng phải con trai của vua ư? Tôi sẽ làm tôi tớ ông như đã làm tôi tớ của thân phụ ông vậy.

20Aùp-sa-lôm bèn nói cùng A-hi-tô-phe rằng: Hai ngươi hãy mưu cùng nhau đặng định điều chúng ta phải làm.

21A-hi-tô-phe đáp cùng Aùp-sa-lôm rằng: Hãy đi đến cùng các cung phi của thân phụ ông đã để lại đặng giữ đền. Khi cả Y-sơ-ra-ên hay rằng ông đã sỉ nhục thân phụ ông như vậy, thì hết thảy những người ở cùng ông lại sẽ càng mạnh mẽ hơn.

22Vậy, người ta che cho Aùp-sa-lôm một cái trại ở trên sân nóc đền; rồi trước mặt cả Y-sơ-ra-ên, Aùp-sa-lôm đi đến cùng các cung phi của cha mình.

23Vả, trong lúc đó, người ta coi mưu của A-hi-tô-phe như lời phán của chính Đức Chúa Trời. Giá trị các mưu của A-hi-tô-phe, hoặc đối cùng Đa-vít, hoặc đối cùng Aùp-sa-lôm, đều là như vậy.
