Genesis

1And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the ground, and daughters were born unto them,

2that the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all that they chose.

3And Jehovah said, My Spirit shall not strive with man for ever, for that he also is flesh: yet shall his days be a hundred and twenty years.

4The Nephilim were in the earth in those days, and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them: the same were the mighty men that were of old, the men of renown.

5And Jehovah saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

6And it repented Jehovah that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

7And Jehovah said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the ground; both man, and beast, and creeping things, and birds of the heavens; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

8But Noah found favor in the eyes of Jehovah.

9These are the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, and perfect in his generations: Noah walked with God.

10And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

11And the earth was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.

12And God saw the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way upon the earth.

13And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

14Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.

15And this is how thou shalt make it: the length of the ark three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.

16A light shalt thou make to the ark, and to a cubit shalt thou finish it upward; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.

17And I, behold, I do bring the flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; everything that is in the earth shall die.

18But I will establish my covenant with thee; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons’ wives with thee.

19And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female.

20Of the birds after their kind, and of the cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the ground after its kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.

21And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them.

22Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.

1Vậy khi loài người bắt đầu thêm đông trên mặt đất, và sinh ra những con gái,

2thì các con trai Thiên Chúa thấy con gái loài người xinh đẹp ; những cô họ ưng ý thì họ lấy làm vợ.

3ĐỨC CHÚA phán : “Thần khí của Ta sẽ không ở lại mãi mãi trong con người, vì con người chỉ là xác phàm, tuổi đời của nó sẽ là một trăm hai mươi năm.”

4Có những người khổng lồ trên mặt đất vào thời bấy giờ và cả sau đó nữa, khi các con trai Thiên Chúa đi lại với con gái loài người, và các cô này sinh cho họ những người con. Đó là những anh hùng thuở xưa, những người có tên tuổi.

5ĐỨC CHÚA thấy rằng trên mặt đất sự gian ác của con người quả là nhiều, và suốt ngày lòng nó chỉ toan tính những ý định xấu.

6ĐỨC CHÚA hối hận vì đã làm ra con người trên mặt đất, và Người buồn rầu trong lòng.

7ĐỨC CHÚA phán : “Ta sẽ xoá bỏ khỏi mặt đất con người mà Ta đã sáng tạo, từ con người cho đến gia súc, giống vật bò dưới đất và chim trời, Ta hối hận vì đã làm ra chúng.”

8Nhưng ông Nô-ê được đẹp lòng ĐỨC CHÚA.

9Đây là gia đình ông Nô-ê : Ông Nô-ê là người công chính, hoàn hảo giữa những người đồng thời, và ông đi với Thiên Chúa.

10Ông Nô-ê sinh ba con trai là Sêm, Kham và Gia-phét.

11Đất đã ra hư hỏng trước nhan Thiên Chúa và đầy bạo lực.

12Thiên Chúa nhìn đất và thấy nó đã ra hư hỏng, vì mọi xác phàm đã theo nếp sống hư hỏng trên mặt đất.

13Thiên Chúa phán với ông Nô-ê : “Ta đã quyết định giờ tận số của mọi xác phàm, vì tại chúng mà đất đầy bạo lực : này Ta sắp tiêu diệt chúng cùng với đất.

14Ngươi hãy làm cho mình một chiếc tàu bằng gỗ bách. Ngươi sẽ làm tàu có những ngăn và lấy nhựa đen mà trám cả trong lẫn ngoài.

15Ngươi sẽ làm tàu thế này : chiều dài một trăm năm mươi thước, chiều rộng hai mươi lăm thước, chiều cao mười lăm thước.

16Ngươi sẽ làm một cái mui che tàu, và đặt mui cách phía trên tàu nửa thước. Cửa tàu, ngươi sẽ đặt ở bên hông ; ngươi sẽ làm tầng dưới, tầng giữa rồi tầng trên.

17Phần Ta, Ta sắp cho hồng thuỷ, nghĩa là nước lụt, xuống trên đất, để tiêu diệt mọi xác phàm có sinh khí dưới gầm trời ; mọi loài trên mặt đất sẽ tắt thở.

18Nhưng Ta sẽ lập giao ước của Ta với ngươi ; ngươi hãy vào tàu, ngươi cùng với các con trai ngươi, vợ ngươi và vợ của các con trai ngươi.

19Trong mọi sinh vật, mọi xác phàm, ngươi sẽ đưa vào tàu mỗi loại một đôi, để giữ cho chúng sống với ngươi ; phải có một con đực và một con cái.

20Trong mỗi loại chim, mỗi loại gia súc, mỗi loại vật bò dưới đất, mỗi loại một đôi sẽ đến với ngươi, để ngươi giữ cho chúng sống.

21Phần ngươi, hãy lấy mọi thứ ăn được và tích trữ cho mình ; đó sẽ là lương thực của ngươi và của chúng.”

22Ông Nô-ê đã làm như vậy ; ông làm đúng như Thiên Chúa đã truyền cho ông.
