Daniel

1And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince who standeth for the children of thy people; and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

2And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

3And they that are wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

4But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

5Then I, Daniel, looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on the brink of the river on this side, and the other on the brink of the river on that side.

6And one said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?

7And I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and a half; and when they have made an end of breaking in pieces the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.

8And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my lord, what shall be the issue of these things?

9And he said, Go thy way, Daniel; for the words are shut up and sealed till the time of the end.

10Many shall purify themselves, and make themselves white, and be refined; but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand; but they that are wise shall understand.

11And from the time that the continual burnt-offering shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

12Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.

13But go thou thy way till the end be; for thou shalt rest, and shalt stand in thy lot, at the end of the days.

1“Thời đó, Mi-ca-en sẽ đứng lên. Người là vị chỉ huy tối cao, là đấng vẫn thường che chở dân ngươi. Đó sẽ là thời ngặt nghèo chưa từng thấy, từ khi có các dân cho đến bấy giờ. Thời đó, dân ngươi sẽ thoát nạn, nghĩa là tất cả những ai được ghi tên trong cuốn sách của Thiên Chúa.

2“Trong số những kẻ an nghỉ trong bụi đất, nhiều người sẽ trỗi dậy : người thì để hưởng phúc trường sinh, kẻ thì để chịu ô nhục và bị ghê tởm muôn đời.

3Các hiền sĩ sẽ chói lọi như bầu trời rực rỡ, những ai làm cho người người nên công chính, sẽ chiếu sáng muôn đời như những vì sao.

4Phần ngươi, Đa-ni-en, hãy giấu những lời này, hãy niêm cuốn sách lại cho đến thời cùng tận. Bấy giờ nhiều người sẽ đọc, và được hiểu biết thêm.”

5Tôi là Đa-ni-en, tôi nhìn xem, thì này : hai người khác đứng hai bên bờ sông, một người bên này, một người bên kia.

6Một trong hai người nói với người kia mặc áo vải gai đứng trên mặt sông : “Cho đến bao giờ những điều kỳ lạ ấy mới chấm dứt ?”

7Tôi nghe tiếng nói của người mặc áo vải gai đứng trên mặt sông. Người ấy giơ tay phải, tay trái lên trời mà thề nhân danh Đấng Hằng Sống : “Cho đến một thời, hai thời và nửa thời. Khi nào sức mạnh của dân thánh hết bị bẻ gãy, thì tất cả các điều ấy cũng sẽ hoàn tất.”

8Tôi nghe mà không hiểu. Tôi liền nói : “Thưa ngài, cuối cùng những điều ấy sẽ như thế nào ?”

9Người đáp : “Không sao, Đa-ni-en, những lời ấy được giữ kín và niêm phong cho đến thời cùng tận.

10Nhiều kẻ sẽ được thanh luyện, tẩy trắng và thử bằng lửa. Ác nhân tiếp tục làm điều ác và không ai trong họ sẽ hiểu, còn hiền sĩ thì sẽ hiểu.

11Từ thời lễ thường tiến bị bãi và đồ ghê tởm khốc hại được đặt lên, sẽ có một ngàn hai trăm chín mươi ngày.

12Phúc thay ai kiên tâm chờ đợi suốt một ngàn ba trăm ba mươi lăm ngày.

13Phần ngươi, hãy đi cho tới cùng. Ngươi sẽ được an nghỉ, rồi sẽ đứng lên lãnh phần dành cho ngươi khi thời gian chấm dứt.”
