2 Samuel

1And it cometh to pass afterwards that David smiteth the Philistines, and humbleth them, and David taketh the bridle of the metropolis out of the hand of the Philistines.

2And he smiteth Moab, and measureth them with a line, causing them to lie down on the earth, and he measureth two lines to put to death, and the fulness of the line to keep alive, and the Moabites are to David for servants, bearers of a present.

3And David smiteth Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah, in his going to bring back his power by the River [Euphrates;]

4and David captureth from him a thousand and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen, and David destroyeth utterly the whole of the charioteers, only he leaveth of them a hundred charioteers.

5And Aram of Damascus cometh to give help to Hadadezer king of Zobah, and David smiteth of Aram twenty and two thousand men;

6and David putteth garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and Aram is to David for a servant, bearing a present; and Jehovah saveth David whithersoever he hath gone;

7and David taketh the shields of gold which were on the servants of Hadadezer, and bringeth them to Jerusalem;

8and from Betah, and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, hath king David taken very much brass.

9And Toi king of Hamath heareth that David hath smitten all the force of Hadadezer,

10and Toi sendeth Joram his son unto king David to ask of him of welfare, and to bless him, (because that he hath fought against Hadadezer, and smiteth him, for a man of wars [with] Toi had Hadadezer been), and in his hand have been vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass,

11also them did king David sanctify to Jehovah, with the silver and the gold which he sanctified of all the nations which he subdued:

12of Aram, and of Moab, and of the Bene-Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer son of Rehob king of Zobah.

13And David maketh a name in his turning back from his smiting Aram in the valley of Salt — eighteen thousand;

14and he putteth in Edom garrisons — in all Edom he hath put garrisons, and all Edom are servants to David; and Jehovah saveth David whithersoever he hath gone.

15And David reigneth over all Israel, and David is doing judgment and righteousness to all his people,

16and Joab son of Zeruiah [is] over the host, and Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud [is] remembrancer,

17and Zadok son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech son of Abiathar, [are] priests, and Seraiah [is] scribe,

18and Benaiah son of Jehoiada [is over] both the Cherethite and the Pelethite, and the sons of David have been ministers.

1Sau đó, vua Đa-vít đánh bại người Phi-li-tinh, hạ nhục chúng và đoạt quyền bá chủ từ tay người Phi-li-tinh.

2Vua đánh bại người Mô-áp, bắt chúng nằm rạp xuống đất và lấy dây đo : vua đo hai dây để giết và đủ một dây để cho sống. Người Mô-áp phải làm nô lệ cho vua Đa-vít và triều cống vua.

3Vua Đa-vít đánh bại vua nước Xô-va là Ha-đát-e-de, con ông Rơ-khốp, khi vua này đi tái lập chủ quyền trên vùng Sông Cả.

4Vua Đa-vít bắt được của vua ấy một ngàn bảy trăm kỵ binh và hai mươi ngàn bộ binh ; và vua Đa-vít đã cắt gân chân tất cả những con ngựa kéo xe, chỉ chừa lại một trăm.

5Người A-ram ở Đa-mát đến cứu viện Ha-đát-e-de, vua Xô-va, nhưng vua Đa-vít đã hạ của A-ram hai mươi ngàn người.

6Vua Đa-vít đặt những trấn thủ cai trị người A-ram ở Đa-mát ; người A-ram phải làm nô lệ cho vua Đa-vít và triều cống vua. ĐỨC CHÚA đã cho vua Đa-vít đi đâu thắng đó.

7Vua Đa-vít lấy các khiên vàng mà tôi tớ vua Ha-đát-e-de mang, và đưa về Giê-ru-sa-lem.

8Tại Be-tác và Bê-rô-thai, các thành của vua Ha-đát-e-de, vua Đa-vít đã lấy được rất nhiều đồng.

9Tô-i, vua Kha-mát, nghe tin vua Đa-vít đã đánh bại toàn thể quân đội vua Ha-đát-e-de.

10Vua Tô-i sai con là Giô-ram đến với vua Đa-vít để vấn an và chúc mừng vua vì đã chiến đấu với vua Ha-đát-e-de và đánh bại vua ấy, vì vua Ha-đát-e-de là kẻ thù của vua Tô-i. Giô-ram mang theo những đồ bạc, đồ vàng và đồ đồng.

11Các đồ ấy, vua Đa-vít cũng đã thánh hiến cho ĐỨC CHÚA, cùng với bạc và vàng vua đã thánh hiến, bạc vàng của mọi dân tộc vua đã khuất phục,

13Vua Đa-vít làm cho danh mình lẫy lừng, lúc trở về sau khi đánh bại mười tám ngàn người Ê-đôm trong thung lũng Muối.

14Vua Đa-vít đặt các trấn thủ tại Ê-đôm ; vua đặt các trấn thủ trong toàn xứ Ê-đôm, và toàn dân Ê-đôm phải làm nô lệ cho vua Đa-vít. ĐỨC CHÚA đã cho vua Đa-vít đi đâu thắng đó.

15Vua Đa-vít trị vì toàn thể Ít-ra-en. Vua Đa-vít thực hiện điều chính trực công minh cho toàn dân.

16Ông Giô-áp, con bà Xơ-ru-gia, chỉ huy quân đội. Ông Giơ-hô-sa-phát, con ông A-khi-lút, làm quốc vụ khanh.

17Ông Xa-đốc, con ông A-khi-túp, và ông A-khi-me-léc con ông Ép-gia-tha, làm tư tế. Ông Xơ-ra-gia làm ký lục.

18Ông Bơ-na-gia-hu, con ông Giơ-hô-gia-đa, chỉ huy quân Cơ-rê-thi và quân Pơ-lê-thi. Các con trai vua Đa-vít làm tư tế.
