2 Samuel

1And all the tribes of Israel come unto David, to Hebron, and speak, saying, 'Lo, we [are] thy bone and thy flesh;

2also heretofore, in Saul's being king over us, thou hast been he who is bringing out and bringing in Israel, and Jehovah saith to thee, Thou dost feed My people Israel, and thou art for leader over Israel.'

3And all the elders of Israel come unto the king, to Hebron, and king David maketh with them a covenant in Hebron before Jehovah, and they anoint David for king over Israel.

4A son of thirty years [is] David in his being king; forty years he hath reigned;

5in Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years, over all Israel and Judah.

6And the king goeth, and his men, to Jerusalem, unto the Jebusite, the inhabitant of the land, and they speak to David, saying, 'Thou dost not come in hither, except thou turn aside the blind and the lame;' saying, 'David doth not come in hither.'

7And David captureth the fortress of Zion, it [is] the city of David.

8And David saith on that day, 'Any one smiting the Jebusite, (let him go up by the watercourse), and the lame and the blind — the hated of David's soul,' — because the blind and lame say, 'He doth not come into the house.'

9And David dwelleth in the fortress, and calleth it — City of David, and David buildeth round about, from Millo and inward,

10and David goeth, going on and becoming great, and Jehovah, God of Hosts, [is] with him.

11And Hiram king of Tyre sendeth messengers unto David, and cedar-trees, and artificers of wood, and artificers of stone, for walls, and they build a house for David,

12and David knoweth that Jehovah hath established him for king over Israel, and that He hath lifted up his kingdom, because of His people Israel.

13And David taketh again concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after his coming from Hebron, and there are born again to David sons and daughters.

14And these [are] the names of those born to him in Jerusalem: Shammuah, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,

15and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

16and Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet.

17And the Philistines hear that they have anointed David for king over Israel, and all the Philistines come up to seek David, and David heareth, and goeth down unto the fortress,

18and the Philistines have come, and are spread out in the valley of Rephaim.

19And David asketh of Jehovah, saying, 'Do I go up unto the Philistines? dost Thou give them into my hand?' And Jehovah saith unto David, 'Go up, for I certainly give the Philistines into thy hand.'

20And David cometh in to Baal-Perazim, and David smiteth them there, and saith, 'Jehovah hath broken forth [on] mine enemies before me, as the breaking forth of waters;' therefore he hath called the name of that place Baal-Perazim.

21And they forsake there their idols, and David and his men lift them up.

22And the Philistines add again to come up, and are spread out in the valley of Rephaim,

23and David asketh of Jehovah, and He saith, 'Thou dost not go up, turn round unto their rear, and thou hast come to them over-against the mulberries,

24and it cometh to pass, in thy hearing the sound of a stepping in the tops of the mulberries, then thou dost move sharply, for then hath Jehovah gone out before thee to smite in the camp of the Philistines.'

25And David doth so, as Jehovah commanded him, and smiteth the Philistines from Geba unto thy coming to Gazer.

1Toàn thể các chi tộc Ít-ra-en đến gặp vua Đa-vít tại Khép-rôn và thưa : “Chúng tôi đây là cốt nhục của ngài.

2Ngay cả trước kia, khi ông Sa-un làm vua cai trị chúng tôi, chính ngài đã chỉ huy các cuộc hành quân của Ít-ra-en. ĐỨC CHÚA đã phán với ngài : ‘Chính ngươi sẽ chăn dắt Ít-ra-en, dân Ta, chính ngươi sẽ là người lãnh đạo Ít-ra-en.’”

4Vua Đa-vít được ba mươi tuổi khi lên làm vua, và trị vì bốn mươi năm.

5Tại Khép-rôn, vua trị vì Giu-đa bảy năm sáu tháng. Tại Giê-ru-sa-lem, vua trị vì toàn thể Ít-ra-en và Giu-đa ba mươi ba năm.

6Vua và người của vua tiến về Giê-ru-sa-lem đánh người Giơ-vút là dân bản xứ. Chúng nói với vua Đa-vít : “Ông sẽ không vào đây được, vì người mù người què sẽ đẩy lui ông.” Nghĩa là : “Ông Đa-vít sẽ không vào đây được.”

7Vua Đa-vít đã chiếm được đồn luỹ Xi-on, đó là Thành vua Đa-vít.

8Ngày hôm đó, vua Đa-vít nói : “Mọi kẻ muốn đánh người Giơ-vút, thì hãy qua đường hầm mà tấn công người mù người què, những kẻ mà lòng vua Đa-vít ghét.” Vì thế có câu : “Người mù người què sẽ không được vào Đền.”

9Vua Đa-vít đóng tại đồn luỹ và gọi đó là Thành vua Đa-vít. Rồi vua Đa-vít xây chung quanh, từ nền Mi-lô vào phía trong.

10Vua Đa-vít ngày càng mạnh thế, và ĐỨC CHÚA, Thiên Chúa các đạo binh, ở với vua.

11Ông Khi-ram, vua thành Tia, sai sứ giả đến với vua Đa-vít, đem theo gỗ bá hương, thợ mộc, thợ đẽo đá xây, và họ đã xây nhà cho vua Đa-vít.

12Vua Đa-vít biết rằng ĐỨC CHÚA đã đặt mình làm vua cai trị Ít-ra-en, và vì dân Người là Ít-ra-en, Người đã làm cho vương quyền của vua được vinh hiển.

13Sau khi từ Khép-rôn tới, vua Đa-vít lấy thêm tỳ thiếp và vợ ở Giê-ru-sa-lem, và vua Đa-vít sinh thêm con trai con gái.

14Đây là tên những người vua sinh được tại Giê-ru-sa-lem : Sam-mu-a, Sô-váp, Na-than, Sa-lô-môn,

15Gíp-kha, Ê-li-su-a, Ne-phéc, Gia-phia,

16Ê-li-sa-ma, En-gia-đa và Ê-li-phe-lét.

17Khi quân Phi-li-tinh nghe biết là người ta đã xức dầu tấn phong vua Đa-vít làm vua Ít-ra-en, thì toàn thể quân Phi-li-tinh lên tìm bắt vua Đa-vít. Vua Đa-vít nghe tin liền xuống nơi ẩn náu.

18Quân Phi-li-tinh đến và tràn vào thung lũng người Ra-pha.

19Vua Đa-vít thỉnh ý ĐỨC CHÚA : “Con có nên tiến đánh quân Phi-li-tinh không ? Ngài có trao chúng vào tay con không ?” ĐỨC CHÚA trả lời vua Đa-vít : “Cứ lên, vì chắc chắn ta sẽ trao quân Phi-li-tinh vào tay ngươi.”

20Vua Đa-vít đến Ba-an Pơ-ra-xim, và vua Đa-vít đánh bại chúng ở đó. Vua nói : “ĐỨC CHÚA đã chọc thủng quân thù trước mặt tôi, như chỗ bị nước chọc thủng.” Vì thế, người ta đặt tên cho nơi ấy là Ba-an Pơ-ra-xim.

21Chúng đã bỏ lại đó các tượng thần của chúng, và vua Đa-vít và người của vua đã mang đi.

22Một lần nữa, quân Phi-li-tinh lại lên và tràn vào thung lũng người Ra-pha.

23Vua Đa-vít thỉnh ý ĐỨC CHÚA ; Người phán : “Đừng lên, nhưng hãy đi vòng, đánh tập hậu, và tấn công chúng từ phía lùm cây sếu.

24Khi nào ngươi nghe tiếng chân bước trên ngọn các cây sếu, bấy giờ ngươi hãy mau mau tấn công, vì bấy giờ ĐỨC CHÚA sẽ ra trận trước mặt ngươi để đánh quân đội Phi-li-tinh.”

25Vua Đa-vít làm như ĐỨC CHÚA đã truyền cho vua, và vua đã đánh bại người Phi-li-tinh từ Ghe-va cho đến lối vào Ghe-de.
