1 Kings

1And king Solomon is king over all Israel,

2and these [are] the heads whom he hath: Azariah son of Zadok [is] the priest;

3Elihoreph and Ahiah sons of Shisha [are] scribes; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud [is] remembrancer;

4and Benaiah son of Jehoiada [is] over the host; and Zadok and Abiathar [are] priests;

5and Azariah son of Nathan [is] over the officers; and Zabud son of Nathan [is] minister, friend of the king;

6And Ahishar [is] over the household, and Adoniram son of Abda [is] over the tribute.

7And Solomon hath twelve officers over all Israel, and they have sustained the king and his household — a month in the year is on each one for sustenance;

8and these [are] their names: Ben-Hur in the hill-country of Ephraim;

9Ben-Dekar in Makaz, and Shaalbim, and Beth-Shemesh, and Elon-Beth-Hanan.

10Ben-Hesed [is] in Aruboth, hath Sochoh and all the land of Hepher;

11Ben-Abinadab [hath] all the elevation of Dor, Taphath daughter of Solomon became his wife.

12Baana Ben-Ahilud [hath] Taanach and Megiddo, and all Beth-Shean, which [is] by Zartanah beneath Jezreel, from Beth-Shean unto Abel-Meholah, unto beyond Jokneam.

13Ben-Geber, in Ramoth-Gilead, hath the small towns of Jair son of Manasseh, which [are] in Gilead; he hath a portion of Argob that [is] in Bashan, sixty great cities [with] wall and brazen bar.

14Ahinadab son of Iddo [hath] Mahanaim.

15Ahimaaz [is] in Naphtali; he also hath taken Basemath daughter of Solomon for a wife.

16Baanah Ben-Hushai [is] in Asher, and in Aloth.

17Jehoshaphat Ben-Paruah [is] in Issachar.

18Shimei Ben-Elah [is] in Benjamin.

19Geber Ben-Uri [is] in the land of Gilead, the land of Sihon king of the Amorite, and of Og king of Bashan: and one officer who [is] in the land.

20Judah and Israel [are] many, as the sand that [is] by the sea for multitude, eating and drinking and rejoicing.

21And Solomon hath been ruling over all the kingdoms, from the River [to] the land of the Philistines and unto the border of Egypt: they are bringing nigh a present, and serving Solomon, all days of his life.

22And the provision of Solomon for one day is thirty cors of flour, and sixty cors of meal;

23ten fat oxen, and twenty feeding oxen, and a hundred sheep, apart from hart, and roe, and fallow-deer, and fatted beasts of the stalls,

24for he is ruling over all beyond the river, from Tiphsah and unto Gaza, over all the kings beyond the river, and he hath peace from all his servants round about.

25And Judah dwelleth — and Israel — in confidence, each under his vine, and under his fig-tree, from Dan even unto Beer-Sheba, all the days of Solomon.

26And Solomon hath forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen.

27And these officers have sustained king Solomon and every one drawing near unto the table of king Solomon, each [in] his month; they let nothing be lacking.

28And the barley and the straw, for horses and for dromedaries, they bring in unto the place where they are, each according to his ordinance.

29And God giveth wisdom to Solomon, and understanding, very much, and breadth of heart, as the sand that [is] on the edge of the sea;

30and the wisdom of Solomon is greater than the wisdom of any of the sons of the east, and than all the wisdom of Egypt;

31and he is wiser than all men, than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, sons of Mahol, and his name is in all the nations round about.

32And he speaketh three thousand similes, and his songs [are] five, and the chief one;

33and he speaketh concerning the trees, from the cedar that [is] in Lebanon, even unto the hyssop that is coming out in the wall, and he speaketh concerning the cattle, and concerning the fowl, and concerning the creeping things, and concerning the fishes,

34and there come out of all the peoples to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth who have heard of his wisdom.

1Vua Sa-lô-môn trị vì trên cả Y-sơ-ra-ên.

2Nầy là các triều thần của người: A-xa-ria, con trai thầy tế lễ Xa-đốc;

3Ê-li-ô-rếp và A-hi-gia, con trai của Si-sa, làm ký lục; Giê-hô-sa-phát, con trai A-hi-lút, làm thủ bộ;

4Bê-na-gia, con trai Giê-hô-gia-đa, làm tổng binh, Xa-đốc và A-bia-tha làm thầy tế lễ.

5A-xa-ria, con trai na-than, làm đầu các quan lại; Xa-bút, con trai Na-than, làm tể tướng và là bạn của vua;

6A-hi-sa, làm quan cai cung điện; và A-đô-ni-ram, con trai Aùp-đa, coi việc cống thuế.

7Sa-lô-môn có mười hai người làm đầu quan lại cai trị cả Y-sơ-ra-ên, để cung cấp lương thực cho vua và cho nhà vua: mỗi người trong một năm phải cung cấp một tháng.

8Nầy là các tên họ: Con trai Hu-rơ, coi về trong núi Eùp-ra-im;

9con trai Đê-kem coi về Ma-kát, Sa-an-bim, Bết-Sê-mết, và Ê-lôn của Bết-Ha-nan;

10con trai Hê-sết, coi về A-ru-bốt người coi luôn Sô-cô và cả xứ Hê-phe.

11Con trai A-bi-na-đáp coi cả đồng cao Đô-rơ; Ta-phát, con gái của Sa-lô-môn, là vợ người.

12Ba-a-na, con trai A-hi-lút, coi Tha-a-nác, Mê-ghi-đô, và cả xứ Bết-Sê-an, ở gần Xạt-han dưới Gít-ê-ên, từ Bết-Sê-an cho đến A-bên-Mê-hô-la và cho đến khỏi bên kia Giốc-mê-am.

13Con trai Ghê-be ở tại Ra-mốt của Ga-la-át; người coi thôn Giai-rơ, ở trong Ga-la-át; Giai-rơ là con trai của Ma-na-se; người cũng cai trị miền Aït-gốp, trong Ba-san, sáu mươi thành lớn có tường thành và then cửa đồng.

14A-hi-na-đáp, con trai Y-đô, ở tại Ma-ha-na-im;

15A-hi-mát, trong địa phận Nép-ta-li; người cũng cưới một con gái của Sa-lô-môn làm vợ, tên là Bách-mát.

16Ba-a-na, con trai Hu-sai, ở trong xứ A-se và A-lốt;

17Giê-hô-sa-phát, con trai Pha-ru-ác coi về Y-sa-ca;

18Si-mê-i, con trai Ê-la, coi về Bên-gia-min;

19Ghê-be, con trai U-ri, coi về xứ Ga-la-át, thuở xưa vốn là xứ của Si-hôn, vua dân A-mô-rít và của Oùc, vua Ba-san. Chỉ có một mình người làm đầu quan lại coi về cả miền này.

20Dân Giu-đa và Y-sơ-ra-ên đông như cát trên bờ biển, ăn uống và vui chơi.

21Sa-lô-môn cai trị trên các nước, từ sông cái cho đến xứ Phi-li-tin, cho đến ranh Ê-díp-tô. Các nước ấy đều tiến cống và phục Sa-lô-môn trọn đời người.

22Lương thực của nhà Sa-lô-môn cần dùng trong mỗi ngày là: ba mươi cô-rơ bột miến lọc, và sáu mươi cô-rơ bột miến thường,

23mười con bò mập, hai mươi con bò nơi đồng cỏ, và một trăm con chiên, không kể nai đực, hoàng dương, cà tong, và vịt gà nuôi mập.

24Vả lại, Sa-lô-môn cai trị trên các xứ ở bên này sông, trên các vua của mấy xứ đó, từ Típ-sắc cho đến Ga-xa và người hòa hảo với các dân ở bốn phía.

25Trọn đời vua Sa-lô-môn trị vì, dân Giu-đa và Y-sơ-ra-ên ăn ở yên ổn vô sự từ Đan cho đến Bê-e-Sê-ba, ai nấy đều ở dưới cây nho và cây vả mình.

26Sa-lô-môn có bốn vạn tàu để ngựa gác xe, và một vạn hai ngàn lính kỵ.

27Các người làm đầu quan lại, mỗi người một tháng, lo sắm sửa đồ cần dùng cho vua Sa-lô-môn và cho hết thảy những người được nhận tiếp nơi bàn vua, chẳng thiếu chi hết.

28Họ theo phiên mình, mỗi người sắm sửa đem đến nơi vua ở, lúa mạch và rơm cho ngựa dùng để kéo và để cỡi.

29Đức Chúa Trời ban cho Sa-lô-môn sự khôn ngoan, sự thông sáng rất cao, cùng lòng rộng rãi như cát trên bờ biển.

30Sự khôn ngoan của Sa-lô-môn trổi hơn sự khôn ngoan của mọi người phương đông, và sự khôn ngoan của người Ê-díp-tô.

31Người khôn ngoan hơn mọi người, khôn ngoan hơn Ê-than, người Eách-ra-hít, hơn Hê-man, Canh-côn, và Đạt-đa, là các con trai Ma-hôn; danh tiếng người đồn ra trong các dân tộc chung quanh.

32Người nói ba ngàn câu châm ngôn, và làm một ngàn năm, bài thơ.

33Người luận về cây cối, từ cây bá hương của Li-ban cho đến chùm kinh giới mọc ra nơi vách; người cũng có luận về loài vật, chim, loài công trùng, và cá.

34Có kẻ từ các dân tộc đến nghe sự khôn ngoan của Sa-lô-môn, và các vua ở thế gian mà đã nghe nói về sự khôn ngoan của người, đều sai sứ đến.
