1Now these are the priests and the Levites who went up with Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua: Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra,

2Amariah, Malluch, Hattush,

3Shecaniah, Rehum, Meremoth,

4Iddo, Ginnethoi, Abijah,

5Mijamin, Maadiah, Bilgah,

6Shemaiah, Joiarib, Jedaiah,

7Sallu, Amok, Hilkiah, and Jedaiah. These were the chiefs of the priests and of their brothers in the days of Jeshua.

8Moreover the Levites were Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, and Mattaniah, who was over the thanksgiving songs, he and his brothers.

9Also Bakbukiah and Unno, their brothers, were close to them according to their offices.

10Jeshua became the father of Joiakim, and Joiakim became the father of Eliashib, and Eliashib became the father of Joiada,

11and Joiada became the father of Jonathan, and Jonathan became the father of Jaddua.

12In the days of Joiakim were priests, heads of fathers’ households: of Seraiah, Meraiah; of Jeremiah, Hananiah;

13of Ezra, Meshullam; of Amariah, Jehohanan;

14of Malluchi, Jonathan; of Shebaniah, Joseph;

15of Harim, Adna; of Meraioth, Helkai;

16of Iddo, Zechariah; of Ginnethon, Meshullam;

17of Abijah, Zichri; of Miniamin, of Moadiah, Piltai;

18of Bilgah, Shammua; of Shemaiah, Jehonathan;

19of Joiarib, Mattenai; of Jedaiah, Uzzi;

20of Sallai, Kallai; of Amok, Eber;

21of Hilkiah, Hashabiah; of Jedaiah, Nethanel.

22As for the Levites, in the days of Eliashib, Joiada, Johanan, and Jaddua, there were recorded the heads of fathers’ households; also the priests, in the reign of Darius the Persian.

23The sons of Levi, heads of fathers’ households, were written in the book of the chronicles, even until the days of Johanan the son of Eliashib.

24The chiefs of the Levites: Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua the son of Kadmiel, with their brothers close to them, to praise and give thanks according to the commandment of David the man of God, section next to section.

25Mattaniah, Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon, and Akkub were gatekeepers keeping the watch at the storehouses of the gates.

26These were in the days of Joiakim the son of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah the governor, and of Ezra the priest and scribe.

27At the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem, they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem to keep the dedication with gladness, both with giving thanks and with singing, with cymbals, stringed instruments, and with harps.

28The sons of the singers gathered themselves together, both out of the plain around Jerusalem and from the villages of the Netophathites;

29also from Beth Gilgal and out of the fields of Geba and Azmaveth, for the singers had built themselves villages around Jerusalem.

30The priests and the Levites purified themselves; and they purified the people, the gates, and the wall.

31Then I brought the princes of Judah up on the wall, and appointed two great companies who gave thanks and went in procession. One went on the right hand on the wall towards the dung gate;

32and after them went Hoshaiah, with half of the princes of Judah,

33and Azariah, Ezra, and Meshullam,

34Judah, Benjamin, Shemaiah, Jeremiah,

35and some of the priests’ sons with trumpets: Zechariah the son of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micaiah, the son of Zaccur, the son of Asaph;

36and his brothers, Shemaiah, Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel, Judah, and Hanani, with the musical instruments of David the man of God; and Ezra the scribe was before them.

37By the spring gate, and straight before them, they went up by the stairs of David’s city, at the ascent of the wall, above David’s house, even to the water gate eastward.

38The other company of those who gave thanks went to meet them, and I after them, with the half of the people on the wall above the tower of the furnaces, even to the wide wall,

39and above the gate of Ephraim, and by the old gate, and by the fish gate, the tower of Hananel, and the tower of Hammeah, even to the sheep gate; and they stood still in the gate of the guard.

40So the two companies of those who gave thanks in God’s house stood, and I and the half of the rulers with me;

41and the priests, Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Micaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, and Hananiah, with trumpets;

42and Maaseiah, Shemaiah, Eleazar, Uzzi, Jehohanan, Malchijah, Elam, and Ezer. The singers sang loud, with Jezrahiah their overseer.

43They offered great sacrifices that day, and rejoiced, for God had made them rejoice with great joy; and the women and the children also rejoiced, so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard even far away.

44On that day, men were appointed over the rooms for the treasures, for the wave offerings, for the first fruits, and for the tithes, to gather into them according to the fields of the cities the portions appointed by the law for the priests and Levites; for Judah rejoiced for the priests and for the Levites who served.

45They performed the duty of their God and the duty of the purification, and so did the singers and the gatekeepers, according to the commandment of David and of Solomon his son.

46For in the days of David and Asaph of old there was a chief of the singers, and songs of praise and thanksgiving to God.

47All Israel in the days of Zerubbabel and in the days of Nehemiah gave the portions of the singers and the gatekeepers, as every day required; and they set apart that which was for the Levites; and the Levites set apart that which was for the sons of Aaron.

12Vào thời thượng tế Giô-gia-kim, các tư tế đứng đầu các gia tộc là các ông : Mơ-ra-gia, gia tộc Xơ-ra-gia ; Kha-nan-gia, gia tộc Giếc-mơ-gia ;

13Mơ-su-lam, gia tộc Ét-ra ; Giơ-hô-kha-nan, gia tộc A-mác-gia ;

14Giô-na-than, gia tộc Ma-lúc ; Giô-xếp, gia tộc Sơ-van-gia ;

15Át-na, gia tộc Kha-rim ; Khen-cai, gia tộc Mơ-ra-giốt ;

16Dơ-khác-gia, gia tộc Ít-đô ; Mơ-su-lam, gia tộc Ghin-thôn ;

17Dích-ri, gia tộc A-vi-gia ; ..., gia tộc Min-gia-min ; Pin-tai, gia tộc Mô-át-gia ;

18Sam-mu-a, gia tộc Bin-ga ; Giơ-hô-na-than, gia tộc Sơ-ma-gia ;

19Mát-tơ-nai, gia tộc Giô-gia-ríp ; Út-di, gia tộc Giơ-đa-gia ;

20Ca-lai, gia tộc Xa-lai ; Ê-ve, gia tộc A-móc ;

24Thủ lãnh các thầy Lê-vi là các ông : Kha-sáp-gia, Sê-rếp-gia, Giê-su-a, Bin-nui, Cát-mi-ên, và các anh em đồng tộc của họ là những người đứng đối diện với họ để ngợi khen và cảm tạ Thiên Chúa, theo lệnh vua Đa-vít, người của Thiên Chúa,

25Mát-tan-gia, Bác-búc-gia, Ô-vát-gia, Mơ-su-lam ; còn các thầy Tan-môn và Ắc-cúp là những người giữ cửa, thì canh các nhà kho gần các cửa.

26Những người này sống dưới thời Giô-gia-kim, con của Giê-su-a, ông này là con của Giô-xa-đắc, và dưới thời ông Nơ-khe-mi-a, tổng đốc, cũng như dưới thời ông Ét-ra, tư tế và kinh sư.

27Dịp khánh thành tường thành Giê-ru-sa-lem, người ta tìm các thầy Lê-vi từ khắp nơi họ ở, đưa về Giê-ru-sa-lem để mừng lễ khánh thành trong niềm hân hoan, giữa tiếng hát ngợi khen hoà với não bạt và cung đàn nhịp sáo.

28Con cháu các ca viên tụ họp nhau lại từ vùng chung quanh Giê-ru-sa-lem, từ các thôn làng của người Nơ-tô-pha,

29từ Bết Ha Ghin-gan, từ đồng ruộng ở Ghe-va và Át-ma-vét, vì các ca viên đã lập ra các thôn làng chung quanh Giê-ru-sa-lem.

30Các tư tế và các thầy Lê-vi đã tự thanh tẩy, rồi thanh tẩy dân, cửa thành và tường thành.

31Bấy giờ tôi đưa các thủ lãnh Giu-đa lên tường thành và chia hai đoàn rước lớn. Đoàn thứ nhất đi về phía tay mặt bên trên tường thành, hướng về phía cửa Rác.

32Đi sau đoàn này, có ông Hô-sa-gia và một nửa hàng thủ lãnh Giu-đa.

33Cùng các ông A-dác-gia, Ét-ra, Mơ-su-lam,

34Giơ-hu-đa, Ben-gia-min, Sơ-ma-gia và Giếc-mơ-gia

35là những người thuộc hàng tư tế và có mang theo kèn ; rồi lại có ông Dơ-khác-gia (Dơ-khác-gia là con của Giô-na-than, Giô-na-than con của Sơ-ma-gia, Sơ-ma-gia con của Mát-tan-gia, Mát-tan-gia con của Mi-kha-gia, Mi-kha-gia con của Dắc-cua, Dắc-cua con của A-xáp)

36và các anh em đồng tộc của ông là Sơ-ma-gia, A-dác-ên, Mi-la-lai, Gi-la-lai, Ma-ai, Nơ-than-ên, Giơ-hu-đa, Kha-na-ni, có mang theo những nhạc cụ của vua Đa-vít, người của Thiên Chúa. Kinh sư Ét-ra đi dẫn đầu.

37Đến cửa Suối họ tiến thẳng về phía trước, leo lên các bậc thang của Thành vua Đa-vít, rồi tiếp tục đi lên bờ tường thành, phía trên đền vua Đa-vít, cho đến cửa Nước ở phía đông.

38Đoàn thứ hai đi về phía tay trái : tôi theo sau cùng với một nửa hàng thủ lãnh của dân, dọc bờ tường thành, phía trên tháp Lò cho đến Tường Rộng,

39rồi phía trên cửa Ép-ra-im, cửa Giơ-sa-na và cửa Cá ; phía trên tháp Kha-nan-ên và tháp Trăm, cho đến cửa Chiên. Mọi người dừng lại ở cửa Lao Xá.

40Sau đó, cả hai đoàn kiệu dừng lại ở Nhà Thiên Chúa. Cùng đi với tôi, có một nửa hàng quan chức

41và các tư tế là các ông : En-gia-kim, Ma-a-xê-gia, Min-gia-min, Mi-kha-gia, En-giô-ê-nai, Dơ-khác-gia, Kha-nan-gia (các vị này có mang theo kèn),

42Ma-a-xê-gia, Sơ-ma-gia, E-la-da, Út-di, Giơ-hô-kha-nan, Man-ki-gia, Ê-lam và Ê-de. Các ca viên hát vang lên dưới quyền điều khiển của Gít-rác-gia.

43Ngày hôm ấy, người ta dâng những lễ vật quý giá và vui mừng hoan hỷ, vì Thiên Chúa đã cho họ được hưởng niềm vui, một niềm vui lớn lao. Cả phụ nữ lẫn thiếu nhi cũng đều vui mừng hoan hỷ. Và niềm vui của Giê-ru-sa-lem đã lan rộng ra xa.

44Thời ấy, có những người được đặt lên trông coi các phòng dùng để chứa những của trích dâng, của đầu mùa và thuế thập phân, cũng như để thu gom những phần dành cho các tư tế và các thầy Lê-vi lấy từ đồng ruộng của các thành theo Luật quy định. Quả thật, Giu-đa lấy làm vui vì các tư tế và các thầy Lê-vi đang tại chức.

45Các nhân vật này cũng như các ca viên và những người giữ cửa đều lo việc thờ phượng Thiên Chúa và việc thanh tẩy theo lệnh vua Đa-vít và con vua là Sa-lô-môn.

46Thật thế, thuở xưa vào thời vua Đa-vít, lúc ông A-xáp đứng đầu các ca viên, đã có những bài ca ngợi khen cảm tạ Thiên Chúa.

47Vào thời ông Dơ-rúp-ba-ven và ông Nơ-khe-mi-a, toàn dân Ít-ra-en ngày ngày vẫn dâng các phần dành cho các ca viên và những người giữ cửa. Họ dâng cho các thầy Lê-vi những phần của thánh ; còn các thầy Lê-vi thì dâng những phần của thánh cho con cháu ông A-ha-ron.
