Jeremiah

1Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he began to reign. He reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.

2He did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight, according to all that Jehoiakim had done.

3For through the LORD’s anger this happened in Jerusalem and Judah, until he had cast them out from his presence. Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

4In the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem, and encamped against it; and they built forts against it round about.

5So the city was besieged to the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.

6In the fourth month, in the ninth day of the month, the famine was severe in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land.

7Then a breach was made in the city, and all the men of war fled, and went out of the city by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king’s garden. Now the Chaldeans were against the city all around. The men of war went towards the Arabah,

8but the army of the Chaldeans pursued the king, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho; and all his army was scattered from him.

9Then they took the king, and carried him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath; and he pronounced judgement on him.

10The king of Babylon killed the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes. He also killed all the princes of Judah in Riblah.

11He put out the eyes of Zedekiah; and the king of Babylon bound him in fetters, and carried him to Babylon, and put him in prison until the day of his death.

12Now in the fifth month, in the tenth day of the month, which was the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, who stood before the king of Babylon, came into Jerusalem.

13He burnt the LORD’s house, and the king’s house; and all the houses of Jerusalem, even every great house, he burnt with fire.

14All the army of the Chaldeans, who were with the captain of the guard, broke down all the walls of Jerusalem all around.

15Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive of the poorest of the people, and the rest of the people who were left in the city, and those who fell away, who defected to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the multitude.

16But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left of the poorest of the land to be vineyard keepers and farmers.

17The Chaldeans broke the pillars of bronze that were in the LORD’s house and the bases and the bronze sea that were in the LORD’s house in pieces, and carried all of their bronze to Babylon.

18They also took away the pots, the shovels, the snuffers, the basins, the spoons, and all the vessels of bronze with which they ministered.

19The captain of the guard took away the cups, the fire pans, the basins, the pots, the lamp stands, the spoons, and the bowls; that which was of gold, as gold, and that which was of silver, as silver.

20They took the two pillars, the one sea, and the twelve bronze bulls that were under the bases, which King Solomon had made for the LORD’s house. The bronze of all these vessels was without weight.

21As for the pillars, the height of the one pillar was eighteen cubits;and a line of twelve cubits encircled it; and its thickness was four fingers. It was hollow.

22A capital of bronze was on it; and the height of the one capital was five cubits,with network and pomegranates on the capital all around, all of bronze. The second pillar also had the same, with pomegranates.

23There were ninety-six pomegranates on the sides; all the pomegranates were one hundred on the network all around.

24The captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the threshold,

25and out of the city he took an officer who was set over the men of war; and seven men of those who saw the king’s face, who were found in the city; and the scribe of the captain of the army, who mustered the people of the land; and sixty men of the people of the land, who were found in the middle of the city.

26Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard took them, and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah.

27The king of Babylon struck them, and put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was carried away captive out of his land.

28This is the number of the people whom Nebuchadnezzar carried away captive: in the seventh year, three thousand and twenty-three Jews;

29in the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar, he carried away captive from Jerusalem eight hundred and thirty-two persons;

30in the twenty-third year of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive of the Jews seven hundred and forty-five people. All the people numbered four thousand and six hundred.

31In the thirty-seventh year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, in the twenty-fifth day of the month, Evilmerodach king of Babylon, in the first year of his reign, lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah, and released him from prison.

32He spoke kindly to him, and set his throne above the throne of the kings who were with him in Babylon,

33and changed his prison garments. Jehoiachin ate bread before him continually all the days of his life.

34For his allowance, there was a continual allowance given him by the king of Babylon, every day a portion until the day of his death, all the days of his life.

1Xít-ki-gia-hu lên ngôi vua khi được hai mươi mốt tuổi, và trị vì mười một năm ở Giê-ru-sa-lem. Mẹ của vua là Kha-mi-tan, con gái ông Giếc-mơ-gia-hu ; bà là người Líp-na.

2Vua đã làm điều dữ trái mắt ĐỨC CHÚA, hệt như vua Giơ-hô-gia-kim.

3Vua Xít-ki-gia-hu đã nổi loạn chống lại vua Ba-by-lon.

4Ngày mồng mười tháng mười, năm thứ chín triều Xít-ki-gia-hu, Na-bu-cô-đô-nô-xo, vua Ba-by-lon, cùng toàn thể đạo quân tiến đánh Giê-ru-sa-lem. Chúng đóng trại và đắp chiến luỹ chung quanh để đánh thành.

5Thành bị vây hãm cho đến năm thứ mười một triều Xít-ki-gia-hu.

6Ngày mồng chín tháng tư, nạn đói hoành hành trong thành và không có bánh cho dân trong xứ.

7Thành bị chọc thủng một lỗ. Đang đêm, tất cả các binh lính trốn ra khỏi thành, theo con đường cửa giữa hai bức tường, gần vườn của vua –bấy giờ quân Can-đê đang bao vây thành–, rồi họ đi theo con đường hướng tới A-ra-va.

8Đạo quân Can-đê rượt theo và đuổi kịp vua Xít-ki-gia-hu trong vùng thảo nguyên Giê-ri-khô. Toàn thể đạo quân của vua Xít-ki-gia-hu bỏ vua chạy tán loạn.

9Chúng bắt được vua và đem lên Ríp-la, thuộc xứ Kha-mát gặp vua Ba-by-lon. Vua Ba-by-lon tuyên án kết tội vua Xít-ki-gia-hu.

10Vua Ba-by-lon cắt cổ những người con của vua Xít-ki-gia-hu trước mắt vua cha. Cả những thủ lãnh của Giu-đa, vua Ba-by-lon cũng cắt cổ tại Ríp-la.

11Rồi ông đâm mù mắt vua Xít-ki-gia-hu, lấy hai dây xích đồng xiềng vua lại ; vua Ba-by-lon cho điệu Xít-ki-gia-hu về Ba-by-lon và giam ông trong nhà tù cho đến ngày ông chết.

12Ngày mồng mười tháng năm –đó là năm thứ mười chín triều Na-bu-cô-đô-nô-xo, vua Ba-by-lon– quan chỉ huy thị vệ Nơ-vu-dác-a-đan, cận thần của vua Ba-by-lon, vào Giê-ru-sa-lem.

13Ông đốt Nhà ĐỨC CHÚA, đền vua và mọi nhà cửa ở Giê-ru-sa-lem ; ông còn phóng hoả đốt mọi dinh thự các nhà quyền quý.

14Toàn thể đạo quân Can-đê, dưới quyền quan chỉ huy thị vệ, phá huỷ mọi tường thành chung quanh Giê-ru-sa-lem.

15Quan chỉ huy thị vệ Nơ-vu-dác-a-đan bắt một phần dân cùng đinh, những người dân còn sót lại trong thành, những người đã đào ngũ theo vua Ba-by-lon và những người thợ thủ công còn sót lại, phải đi đày.

16Nhưng quan chỉ huy thị vệ Nơ-vu-dác-a-đan cho chừa lại một phần dân cùng đinh trong xứ để trồng nho và canh tác.

17Quân Can-đê đập tan các cột đồng của Nhà ĐỨC CHÚA, các giàn và bể nước bằng đồng trong Nhà ĐỨC CHÚA, rồi mang tất cả đồng về Ba-by-lon.

18Rồi chúng lấy nồi, xẻng, dao, các bình rẩy, các bình hương và mọi đồ bằng đồng dùng vào việc tế tự.

19Quan chỉ huy thị vệ cũng lấy chén, khay đựng tro, các bình rẩy, nồi, chân đèn, bình hương và chén, các đồ này được làm bằng vàng, bằng bạc.

20Còn hai cái cột của bể nước duy nhất và mười hai con bò bằng đồng kê bể nước, ở dưới cái giàn, mà vua Sa-lô-môn đã làm cho Nhà ĐỨC CHÚA, thì người ta không thể xác định được số lượng đồng của tất cả những đồ vật đó.

21Còn các cột, mỗi cột cao chín thước ; bên trên đầu trụ cột, lấy dây mà đo chu vi thì được sáu thước, dày bốn đốt ngón tay ; rỗng bên trong.

22Cột ấy được đặt trên trụ bằng đồng, chiều cao của mỗi trụ là hai thước rưỡi. Có một màng lưới và những trái thạch lựu bọc chung quanh trên đầu trụ ; tất cả đều bằng đồng. Cột thứ hai cũng vậy, và các trái thạch lựu...

23Có chín mươi sáu trái thạch lựu treo lơ lửng. Tổng số trái thạch lựu là một trăm, treo chung quanh mạng lưới.

24Quan chỉ huy thị vệ bắt giữ tư tế thủ lãnh Xơ-ra-gia, tư tế bậc hai Xơ-phan-gia và ba tư tế canh ngưỡng cửa.

25Còn trong thành, ông bắt giữ một thái giám chỉ huy các binh lính, bảy cận thần của vua người ta tìm thấy trong thành, viên ký lục của tướng lãnh quân đội lo việc tuyển quân trong xứ và sáu mươi người dân trong xứ người ta tìm thấy ở trong thành.

26Quan chỉ huy thị vệ Nơ-vu-dác-a-đan bắt những người ấy và điệu tới vua Ba-by-lon ở Ríp-la.

27Vua Ba-by-lon cho người đánh đập và giết chết họ ở Ríp-la, trong xứ Kha-mát. Và Giu-đa bị đày biệt xứ.

28Đây là số dân bị vua Na-bu-cô-đô-nô-xo bắt đi đày. Vào năm thứ bảy : có ba ngàn hai mươi ba người Giu-đa bị lưu đày.

29Vào năm thứ mười tám triều Na-bu-cô-đô-nô-xo : có tám trăm ba mươi hai người Giê-ru-sa-lem bị lưu đày.

30Vào năm thứ hai mươi ba triều Na-bu-cô-đô-nô-xo, quan chỉ huy thị vệ Nơ-vu-dác-a-đan bắt bảy trăm bốn mươi lăm người Giu-đa đi lưu đày. Tổng số người phải lưu đày là bốn ngàn sáu trăm.

31Nhưng, năm thứ ba mươi bảy kể từ khi vua Giu-đa là Giơ-hô-gia-khin bị lưu đày, tức là năm vua Ba-by-lon là E-vin Mơ-rô-đác lên ngôi, thì ngày hai mươi lăm tháng mười hai, vua này ân xá cho Giơ-hô-gia-khin, vua Giu-đa, và đưa ra khỏi nhà tù.

32Vua Ba-by-lon tiếp chuyện vua một cách thân thiện và ban cho vua một ngai cao hơn ngai các vua khác đang có mặt tại Ba-by-lon.

33Vua Ba-by-lon cho vua thay áo tù, và suốt đời, ngày ngày luôn được đồng bàn với mình.

34Vua được vua Ba-by-lon cấp dưỡng liên tục, ngày nào cũng thế, trong suốt đời vua, cho đến khi vua chết.
