1When the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to test Solomon with hard questions at Jerusalem, with a very great caravan, including camels that bore spices, gold in abundance, and precious stones. When she had come to Solomon, she talked with him about all that was in her heart.

2Solomon answered all her questions. There wasn’t anything hidden from Solomon which he didn’t tell her.

3When the queen of Sheba had seen the wisdom of Solomon, the house that he had built,

4the food of his table, the seating of his servants, the attendance of his ministers, their clothing, his cup bearers and their clothing, and his ascent by which he went up to the LORD’s house, there was no more spirit in her.

5She said to the king, “It was a true report that I heard in my own land of your acts and of your wisdom.

6However I didn’t believe their words until I came, and my eyes had seen it; and behold half of the greatness of your wisdom wasn’t told me. You exceed the fame that I heard!

7Happy are your men, and happy are these your servants, who stand continually before you and hear your wisdom.

8Blessed be the LORD your God, who delighted in you and set you on his throne to be king for the LORD your God, because your God loved Israel, to establish them forever. Therefore he made you king over them, to do justice and righteousness.”

9She gave the king one hundred and twenty talentsof gold, spices in great abundance, and precious stones. There was never before such spice as the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.

10The servants of Huram and the servants of Solomon, who brought gold from Ophir, also brought algum treesand precious stones.

11The king used algum tree wood to make terraces for the LORD’s house and for the king’s house, and harps and stringed instruments for the singers. There were none like these seen before in the land of Judah.

12King Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatever she asked, more than that which she had brought to the king. So she turned and went to her own land, she and her servants.

13Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and sixty-six talentsof gold,

14in addition to that which the traders and merchants brought. All the kings of Arabia and the governors of the country brought gold and silver to Solomon.

15King Solomon made two hundred large shields of beaten gold. Six hundred shekelsof beaten gold went to one large shield.

16He made three hundred shields of beaten gold. Three hundred shekelsof gold went to one shield. The king put them in the House of the Forest of Lebanon.

17Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with pure gold.

18There were six steps to the throne, with a footstool of gold, which were fastened to the throne, and armrests on either side by the place of the seat, and two lions standing beside the armrests.

19Twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other on the six steps. There was nothing like it made in any other kingdom.

20All King Solomon’s drinking vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the House of the Forest of Lebanon were of pure gold. Silver was not considered valuable in the days of Solomon.

21For the king had ships that went to Tarshish with Huram’s servants. Once every three years, the ships of Tarshish came bringing gold, silver, ivory, apes, and peacocks.

22So King Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom.

23All the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.

24They each brought tribute: vessels of silver, vessels of gold, clothing, armour, spices, horses, and mules every year.

25Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen that he stationed in the chariot cities and with the king at Jerusalem.

26He ruled over all the kings from the River even to the land of the Philistines, and to the border of Egypt.

27The king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stones, and he made cedars to be as abundant as the sycamore trees that are in the lowland.

28They brought horses for Solomon out of Egypt and out of all lands.

29Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, first and last, aren’t they written in the history of Nathan the prophet, and in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Iddo the seer concerning Jeroboam the son of Nebat?

30Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years.

31Solomon slept with his fathers, and he was buried in his father David’s city; and Rehoboam his son reigned in his place.

1Nữ hoàng Sơ-va nghe biết danh tiếng vua Sa-lô-môn, thì đến Giê-ru-sa-lem đặt câu đố thử tài vua. Cùng đi với bà là cả một đoàn tuỳ tùng đông đảo, nhiều lạc đà chở đầy hương liệu, và một số lượng rất lớn vàng cùng đá quý. Bà vào hội kiến với vua Sa-lô-môn và nói với vua tất cả những gì bà suy nghĩ trong lòng.

2Vua Sa-lô-môn giải đáp tất cả những vấn đề bà đưa ra ; đối với vua Sa-lô-môn, không có chuyện gì bí ẩn, mà vua không giải đáp cho bà được.

3Nữ hoàng Sơ-va thấy sự khôn ngoan của vua Sa-lô-môn, và cung điện vua đã xây,

4những món ăn trên bàn của vua, dinh thự của quần thần, cung cách và trang phục của họ, các vị chước tửu và trang phục của họ, các lễ toàn thiêu vua tiến dâng tại Đền Thờ ĐỨC CHÚA, bà hết hồn.

5Bà nói với vua : “Những điều tôi đã nghe nói ở nước tôi về ngài và về sự khôn ngoan của ngài quả là sự thật.

6Tôi đã không tin những điều người ta nói cho tới khi tôi đến và thấy tận mắt. Nhưng thật ra người ta cho tôi biết chưa tới một nửa về sự khôn ngoan kỳ diệu của ngài. Ngài vượt xa tiếng tăm lừng lẫy tôi đã nghe về ngài.

7Phúc thay thần dân của ngài ! Phúc thay quần thần của ngài, những kẻ luôn luôn được túc trực trước mặt ngài và nghe biết sự khôn ngoan của ngài.

8Chúc tụng ĐỨC CHÚA, Thiên Chúa của ngài, Đấng đã ưu ái đặt ngài trên ngôi báu của Người để ngài làm vua phục vụ ĐỨC CHÚA, Thiên Chúa của ngài. Vì Thiên Chúa của ngài yêu thương Ít-ra-en, muốn cho dân này được muôn đời bền vững, nên đã đặt ngài làm vua cai trị họ, để ngài thi hành luật pháp và công lý.”

9Và, bà tặng vua ba ngàn sáu trăm ký vàng, một số rất lớn hương liệu và đá quý. Chưa từng có thứ hương liệu nào như thứ mà nữ hoàng Sơ-va đã tặng cho vua Sa-lô-môn.

10Cả các tôi tớ của vua Khi-ram cùng với bề tôi vua Sa-lô-môn khi mang vàng từ Ô-phia về, cũng đưa gỗ đàn hương và đá quý về nữa.

11Vua dùng gỗ đàn hương làm bậc thang cho Đền Thờ ĐỨC CHÚA, cung điện nhà vua, đàn lia, đàn hạc cho các ca sĩ. Trước đây, trong đất Giu-đa, người ta chưa hề thấy thứ gỗ nào như thế.

12Vua Sa-lô-môn tặng lại nữ hoàng Sơ-va tất cả những gì bà ngỏ ý thích, nhiều hơn cả những gì bà đã mang đến cho vua. Sau đó bà lui gót, cùng với đoàn tuỳ tùng trở về xứ sở.

13Số vàng vua Sa-lô-môn thu nhập hàng năm là hai mươi ngàn ký,

14không kể số vàng và bạc mà khách vãng lai, các thương gia cũng như tất cả các vua Ả-rập và các quan thái thú trong nước đem nộp cho vua.

15Vua Sa-lô-môn làm hai trăm chiếc thuẫn lớn bằng vàng gò, mỗi chiếc thuẫn phải dùng tới sáu ký vàng gò.

16Vua còn làm ba trăm chiếc thuẫn nhỏ bằng vàng gò, mỗi chiếc mất ba ký vàng. Và vua đặt các thuẫn ấy trong Cung Rừng Li-băng.

17Vua lại làm một cái ngai lớn bằng ngà và dát vàng ròng.

18Ngai có sáu cấp và một cái bệ chân bằng vàng, hai bên chỗ ngồi có tay tựa, đứng sát tay tựa là hai con sư tử,

19và mười hai con sư tử đứng trên sáu cấp ở hai bên. Chẳng vương quốc nào làm được như thế.

20Tất cả các chén để uống của vua Sa-lô-môn đều bằng vàng, và tất cả các vật dụng trong Cung Rừng Li-băng cũng bằng vàng ròng. Vì thời vua Sa-lô-môn bạc không có giá trị gì cả.

21Quả vậy, vua Sa-lô-môn có một đoàn tàu đi Tác-sít cùng với các tôi tớ của vua Khi-ram, và cứ ba năm một lần, đoàn tàu Tác-sít đến mang theo vàng, bạc, ngà, khỉ và công.

22Vua Sa-lô-môn là người trổi vượt hơn tất cả các đế vương trên mặt đất về sự giàu có và khôn ngoan.

23Tất cả các vua trên mặt đất đều mong diện kiến vua Sa-lô-môn để được nghe sự khôn ngoan mà Thiên Chúa đã ban cho vua,

24mỗi vị đều mang lễ vật : đồ bạc, đồ vàng, y phục, vũ khí, hương liệu, ngựa và lừa, cứ thế từ năm này qua năm khác.

25Vua có bốn ngàn ngăn chuồng chứa ngựa và xe, với mười hai ngàn ngựa cỡi để ở các thành có xe và để ở cạnh vua tại Giê-ru-sa-lem.

26Vua thống trị tất cả các vua từ Sông Cả đến đất của người Phi-li-tinh và mãi cho tới ranh giới Ai-cập.

27Nhờ vua mà bạc ở Giê-ru-sa-lem ra thường như sỏi đá, còn bá hương thì nhiều như vả ở miền Sơ-phê-la.

28Ngựa của vua Sa-lô-môn là giống ngựa được nhập từ Ai-cập và từ khắp mọi nước.

29Các truyện khác về vua Sa-lô-môn, từ những việc đầu tiên đến những việc cuối cùng, đều đã được ghi chép trong Sử Biên Niên của ngôn sứ Na-than, trong Sách Ngôn Sứ của ông A-khi-gia người Si-lô, trong Các Thị Kiến của thầy chiêm Gie-đô dưới thời vua Gia-róp-am con ông Nơ-vát.

30Vua Sa-lô-môn trị vì toàn thể Ít-ra-en tại Giê-ru-sa-lem được bốn mươi năm.

31Vua Sa-lô-môn đã an nghỉ với tổ tiên và được chôn cất trong Thành Đa-vít thân phụ vua, và thái tử Rơ-kháp-am lên ngôi kế vị vua.
