1Sau điều đó, Đa-vít đánh bại dân Phi-li-tin, bắt phục chúng nó, và cất quyền kinh đô khỏi chúng nó.

2Người cũng đánh dân Mô-áp, bắt chúng nằm dài trên đất mà lấy dây đo: đo hai dây để giết, rồi đo một dây để sống. Như vậy, dân Mô-áp phải phục Đa-vít và đóng thuế cho người.

3Đa-vít cũng đánh Ha-đa-đê-xe, con trai của Rê-hốp, vua Xô-ba, đang khi người đi đặng lấy lại quyền quản hạt trên sông Ơ-phơ-rát.

4Đa-vít bắt của người một ngày bảy trăm lính kị và hai mươi ngày lính bộ, cắt nhượng ngựa của các xe, chỉ để dành cho chúng nó một trăm cổ xe mà thôi.

5Dân Sy-ri ở Đa-mách đến tiếp trợ Ha-đa-đê-xe, vua Xô-ba; Đa-vít bèn giết chúng nó hai mươi hai ngàn người.

6Kế đó, người lập đồn trong Đa-mách xứ Sy-ri; dân Sy-ri phục dịch Đa-vít và nộp thuế. Hễ nơi nào Đa-vít đi đến, thì Đức Giê-hô-va cho người được thắng.

7Đa-vít lấy những thuẫn bằng vàng của các đầy tớ Ha-đa-đê-xe mang, mà gởi đến Giê-ru-sa-lem.

8ỳ Bê-tách và Bê-rô-tôi, hai thành của Ha-đa-đê-xe, vua cũng đoạt lấy đồng rất nhiều.

9Thôi, vua Ha-mát, hay rằng vua Đa-vít đánh bại cả đạo binh của Ha-đa-đê-xe,

10bèn sai Giô-ram, con trai mình, đến vua Đa-vít đặng chào mừng, và tặng khen người đã đánh bại Ha-đa-đê-xe. Vì Ha-đa-đê-xe hằng đánh giặc cùng Thôi. Giô-ra đem dâng những chậu bằng bạc, bằng vàng và bằng đồng.

11Vua Đa-vít cũng biệt các món nầy riêng ra thánh cho Đức Giê-hô-va, y như người đã biệt riêng ra thánh bạc và vàng của các dân tộc mà người đã bắt phục:

12tức là dân Sy-ri, dân Mô-áp, dân Am-môn, dân Phi-li-tin, và dân A-ma-léc. Người cũng làm như vậy về của giặc, lấy nơi Ha-đa-đê-xe, con trai của Rê-hốp, vua xứ Xô-ba.

13Sau khi thắng dân Sy-ri trở về, Đa-vít lại nổi danh tiếng, vì đánh giết một vạn tám ngàn dân Ê-đôm trong trũng muối.

14Người lập đồn trong khắp xứ Ê-đôm, và cả xứ Ê-đôm phải phục Đa-vít. Như vậy, Đức Giê-hô-va khiến cho Đa-vít được thắng khắp nơi nào người đi đến.

15Đa-vít làm vua trên cả Y-sơ-ra-ên, cai trị cả dân sự mình cách ngay thẳng và công bình.

16Giô-áp, con trai Xê-ru-gia, làm quan tổng binh; Giô-sa-phát, con trai A-hi-lút, làm quan thái sử;

17Xa-đốc, con trai A-hi-túp, và A-hi-mê-léc, con trai A-bia-tha, làm thầy tế lễ; và Se-ra-gia làm ký lục;

18Bê-na-gia, con trai Giê-hô-gia-đa, làm quan trưởng dân Kê-rê-thít và dân Phê-lê-thít; còn các con trai Đa-vít làm tể tướng vua.

1And it came to pass after this that David defeated the Philistines, and brought them down, and David took the bridle of tribute out of the hand of the Philistines.

2And he defeated Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the earth: and he measured with two lines, one to put to death, and one to save alive: and Moab was made to serve David under tribute.

3David defeated also Adarezer the son of Rohob king of Soba, when he went to extend his dominion over the river Euphrates.

4And David took from him a thousand and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen, and houghed all the chariot horses: and only reserved of them for one hundred chariots.

5And the Syrians of Damascus came to succour Adarezer the king of Soba: and David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.

6And David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and Syria served David under tribute: and the Lord preserved David in all his enterprises, whithersoever he went.

7And David took the arms of gold, which the servants of Adarezer wore, and brought them to Jerusalem.

8And out of Bete, and out of Beroth, cities of Adarezer, king David took an exceeding great quantity of brass.

9And Thou the king of Emath heard that David had defeated all the forces of Adarezer.

10And Thou sent Joram his son to king David, to salute him, and to congratulate with him, and to return him thanks: because he had fought against Adarezer, and had defeated him. For Thou was an enemy to Adarezer, and in his hand were vessels of gold, and vessels of silver, and vessels of brass:

11And king David dedicated them to the Lord, together with the silver and gold that he had dedicated of all the nations, which he had subdued:

12Of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalec, and of the spoils of Adarezer the son of Rohob king of Soba.

13David also made himself a name, when he returned after taking Syria in the valley of the saltpits, killing eighteen thousand:

14And he put guards in Edom, and placed there a garrison: and all Edom was made to serve David: and the Lord preserved David in all enterprises he went about.

15And David reigned over all Israel: and David did judgment and justice to all his people.

16And Joab the son of Sarvia was over the army: and Josaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder:

17And Sadoc the son of Achitob, and Achimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests: and Saraias was the scribe:

18And Banaias the son of Joiada was over the Cerethi and Phelethi: and the sons of David were the princes.
