1Chúa Giê-xu bảo các môn đệ: “Ta cho các con biết, một vài người đang đứng đây sẽ còn sống cho đến khi nhìn thấy Nước của Đức Chúa Trời thiết lập với uy quyền vĩ đại!”

2Sáu ngày sau, Chúa Giê-xu đem riêng Phi-e-rơ, Gia-cơ, và Giăng lên một ngọn núi cao. Chúa hóa hình ngay trước mặt họ.

3Áo Ngài trắng và chói sáng, trên đời này không có cách gì phiếu trắng đến thế.

4Ê-li và Môi-se hiện ra, hầu chuyện với Chúa.

5Phi-e-rơ buột miệng: “Thưa Thầy, ở đây thật tuyệt! Chúng con sẽ dựng ba chiếc lều—một cho Thầy, một cho Môi-se, và một cho Ê-li.”

6Nhưng Phi-e-rơ không biết mình nói gì, vì các môn đệ đều khiếp sợ.

7Một đám mây kéo đến bao phủ mọi người, và từ trong mây có tiếng phán: “Đây là Con yêu dấu của Ta. Hãy nghe lời Người.”

8Các môn đệ lập tức nhìn quanh, nhưng chỉ thấy một mình Chúa Giê-xu.

9Khi xuống núi, Chúa dặn ba môn đệ đừng thuật lại cho ai việc họ vừa thấy, trước khi Con Người từ cõi chết sống lại.

10Các môn đệ vâng lời Chúa, nhưng bàn cãi với nhau “sống lại từ cõi chết” có nghĩa gì?

11Họ hỏi: “Tại sao các thầy dạy luật quả quyết Ê-li phải đến trước Đấng Mết-si-a?”

12Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Đúng! Ê-li đến trước để chuẩn bị mọi việc. Thánh Kinh cũng chép Con Người phải chịu nhiều thống khổ và bị chế giễu khinh bỉ.

13Ta cho các con biết, Ê-li đã đến rồi, nhưng bị người ta bạc đãi đúng như Thánh Kinh đã viết.”

Chúa Giê-xu Chữa Lành Cậu Bé Bị Quỷ Ám

14Xuống đến chân núi, Chúa thấy một đoàn dân rất đông bao vây các môn đệ của Ngài, và các thầy dạy luật đang tranh luận với họ.

15Vừa thấy Chúa Giê-xu, dân chúng rất ngạc nhiên, chạy ra chào đón Ngài.

16Chúa Giê-xu hỏi: “Các anh chị em đang bàn cãi gì đó?”

17Một người trong đám đông lên tiếng: “Thưa Thầy, tôi đem con trai tôi đến xin Thầy cứu giúp, nó bị quỷ ám không nói được.

18Mỗi khi quỷ nhập, nó bị vật nhào xuống đất, sùi bọt mép, nghiến răng rồi cứng đờ ra. Tôi xin các môn đệ Thầy đuổi quỷ cho, nhưng họ không đuổi được.”

19Chúa Giê-xu trách: “Những người hoài nghi kia! Ta phải ở với các người bao lâu nữa, phải chịu đựng các người đến bao giờ? Đem ngay đứa trẻ lại đây.”

20Vậy họ mang đứa trẻ đến. Nhưng khi quỷ thấy Chúa Giê-xu, nó liền khiến đứa trẻ co giật, ngã nhào xuống đất, lăn lộn và miệng sùi bọt mép.

21Chúa Giê-xu hỏi cha đứa trẻ: “Nó bị hành hạ thế này bao lâu rồi?” Ông đáp: “Thưa, từ khi còn nhỏ.

22Quỷ đã ném nó vào lửa, xuống sông để giết nó. Nếu Thầy có thể cứu nó, xin thương xót giúp cho!”

23Chúa Giê-xu ngắt lời: “Sao ông nói ‘nếu có thể’? Ai tin, mọi việc đều được cả.”

24Cha đứa trẻ lập tức la lên: “Tôi tin, xin giúp tôi thắng hơn sự vô tín của tôi.”

25Thấy dân chúng tụ tập mỗi lúc một đông, Chúa Giê-xu liền quở trách quỷ: “Quỷ câm và điếc kia! Ta ra lệnh: phải ra khỏi đứa trẻ này, không được nhập vào nó nữa!”

26Quỷ liền hét lớn; đứa trẻ bị động kinh dữ dội, rồi quỷ ra khỏi. Đứa trẻ nằm bất động như xác chết, nên mọi người đều nói: “Nó chết rồi.”

27Nhưng Chúa Giê-xu nắm tay nâng nó lên, nó liền đứng dậy.

28Khi vào nhà, các môn đệ hỏi riêng Chúa: “Sao chúng con không đuổi quỷ ấy được?”

29Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Những trường hợp này, cần phải cầu nguyệnmới đuổi quỷ được.”

Chúa Giê-xu Báo Trước Sự Chết của Ngài

30Rời miền đó, Chúa Giê-xu và các môn đệ đi ngang qua xứ Ga-li-lê, nhưng Chúa không muốn cho ai biết,

31vì Ngài có ý dành thì giờ dạy dỗ các môn đệ. Ngài bảo họ: “Con Người sẽ bị phản bội, nộp vào tay người ta. Ngài sẽ bị giết, nhưng ba ngày sau, Ngài sẽ sống lại.”

32Các môn đệ không hiểu nổi lời Ngài dạy, nhưng sợ không dám hỏi lại.

Cao Trọng Nhất trong Nước Trời

33Chúa và các môn đệ về thành Ca-bê-na-um. Khi vào nhà, Chúa Giê-xu hỏi: “Dọc đường các con bàn cãi gì với nhau đó?”

34Họ không dám trả lời, vì khi đi đường, họ tranh luận với nhau xem người nào cao trọng nhất trong các môn đệ.

35Chúa ngồi xuống, gọi mười hai sứ đồ lại gần, và phán: “Ai muốn làm lớn, phải chịu phận nhỏ, làm đầy tớ người khác.”

36Rồi Ngài đặt một đứa trẻ giữa các môn đệ, ôm nó trong vòng tay, và dạy:

37“Ai nhân danh Ta tiếp rước một em bé như nó, tức là tiếp rước Ta. Còn ai tiếp Ta, là tiếp rước Đấng đã sai Ta.”

38Sứ đồ Giăng trình với Chúa: “Thưa Thầy, chúng con thấy có người nhân danh Thầy đuổi quỷ, chúng con đã cấm vì họ không ở trong nhóm chúng ta.”

39Nhưng Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Đừng ngăn cấm, vì không ai có thể nhân danh Ta làm phép lạ, rồi quay lại nói nghịch Ta.

40Ai không chống chúng ta là theo chúng ta.

41Nếu ai cho các con một chén nước vì các con là môn đệ của Chúa Cứu Thế, Ta quả quyết người ấy sẽ được tưởng thưởng.

42Nhưng nếu ai phá hoại đức tin của một em bé đã theo Ta, thì thà buộc cối đá vào cổ người ấy ném xuống biển còn hơn!

48‘nơi sâu bọ không hề chết và lửa không hề tàn.’

49Vì mọi người sẽ bị muối bằng lửa.

1And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There are some here of them that stand by, who shall in no wise taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God come with power.

2And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and bringeth them up into a high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them;

3and his garments became glistering, exceeding white, so as no fuller on earth can whiten them.

4And there appeared unto them Elijah with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus.

5And Peter answereth and saith to Jesus, Rabbi, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.

6For he knew not what to answer; for they became sore afraid.

7And there came a cloud overshadowing them: and there came a voice out of the cloud, This is my beloved Son: hear ye him.

8And suddenly looking round about, they saw no one any more, save Jesus only with themselves.

9And as they were coming down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, save when the Son of man should have risen again from the dead.

10And they kept the saying, questioning among themselves what the rising again from the dead should mean.

11And they asked him, saying, How is it that the scribes say that Elijah must first come?

12And he said unto them, Elijah indeed cometh first, and restoreth all things: and how is it written of the Son of man, that he should suffer many things and be set at nought?

13But I say unto you, that Elijah is come, and they have also done unto him whatsoever they would, even as it is written of him.

14And when they came to the disciples, they saw a great multitude about them, and scribes questioning with them.

15And straightway all the multitude, when they saw him, were greatly amazed, and running to him saluted him.

16And he asked them, What question ye with them?

17And one of the multitude answered him, Teacher, I brought unto thee my son, who hath a dumb spirit;

18and wheresoever it taketh him, it dasheth him down: and he foameth, and grindeth his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast it out; and they were not able.

19And he answereth them and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? bring him unto me.

20And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him grievously; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming.

21And he asked his father, How long time is it since this hath come unto him? And he said, From a child.

22And oft-times it hath cast him both into the fire and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do anything, have compassion on us, and help us.

23And Jesus said unto him, If thou canst! All things are possible to him that believeth.

24Straightway the father of the child cried out, and said, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

25And when Jesus saw that a multitude came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I command thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.

26And having cried out, and torn him much, he came out: and the boy became as one dead; insomuch that the more part said, He is dead.

27But Jesus took him by the hand, and raised him up; and he arose.

28And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, How is it that we could not cast it out?

29And he said unto them, This kind can come out by nothing, save by prayer.

30And they went forth from thence, and passed through Galilee; and he would not that any man should know it.

31For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered up into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and when he is killed, after three days he shall rise again.

32But they understood not the saying, and were afraid to ask him.

33And they came to Capernaum: and when he was in the house he asked them, What were ye reasoning on the way?

34But they held their peace: for they had disputed one with another on the way, who was the greatest.

35And he sat down, and called the twelve; and he saith unto them, If any man would be first, he shall be last of all, and servant of all.

36And he took a little child, and set him in the midst of them: and taking him in his arms, he said unto them,

37Whosoever shall receive one of such little children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever receiveth me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.

38John said unto him, Teacher, we saw one casting out demons in thy name; and we forbade him, because he followed not us.

39But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man who shall do a mighty work in my name, and be able quickly to speak evil of me.

40For he that is not against us is for us.

41For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink, because ye are Christ’s, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

42And whosoever shall cause one of these little ones that believe on me to stumble, it were better for him if a great millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.

43And if thy hand cause thee to stumble, cut it off: it is good for thee to enter into life maimed, rather than having thy two hands to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire.

45And if thy foot cause thee to stumble, cut it off: it is good for thee to enter into life halt, rather than having thy two feet to be cast into hell.

46

47And if thine eye cause thee to stumble, cast it out: it is good for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell;

48where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

49For every one shall be salted with fire.

50Salt is good: but if the salt have lost its saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace one with another.
