Chúa Giê-xu Chữa Lành Người Bại

1Mấy ngày sau, Chúa Giê-xu về thành Ca-bê-na-um. Mọi người hay tin Chúa trở về,

2đều kéo đến đông đảo, từ trong nhà ra ngoài cửa, chẳng còn chỗ chen chân. Trong khi Chúa đang giảng dạy Đạo của Đức Chúa Trời cho họ,

3có bốn người khiêng đến một người bại nằm trên đệm.

4Biết không thể chen qua đám đông, họ liền dỡ mái nhà, dòng người bại xuống trước mặt Chúa Giê-xu.

5Thấy đức tin của họ, Chúa Giê-xu phán bảo người bại: “Con ơi, tội lỗi con được tha rồi!”

6Mấy thầy dạy luật ngồi đó nghĩ thầm:

7“Phạm thượng thật! Không lẽ ông này tưởng mình là Đức Chúa Trời sao? Ngoài Đức Chúa Trời còn ai có quyền tha tội!”

8Chúa Giê-xu hiểu thấu tư tưởng họ, liền hỏi: “Tại sao các ông thắc mắc về điều đó?

9Trong hai việc ‘Tội con đã được tha’ và ‘Hãy đứng dậy, vác đệm, và bước đi,’ thì việc nào dễ hơn?

10Để các ông biết Con Ngườiở trần gian có quyền tha tội, Ta sẽ chữa lành người bại này.” Rồi Chúa Giê-xu quay lại phán cùng người bại:

11“Con hãy đứng dậy, vác đệm của con về nhà!”

12Người bại lập tức vùng dậy, xếp đệm vác đi, ngay trước mặt mọi người. Ai nấy đều kinh ngạc, ca ngợi Đức Chúa Trời và bảo nhau: “Thật là việc phi thường, chưa bao giờ thấy!”

Chúa Giê-xu Kêu Gọi Lê-vi (Ma-thi-ơ)

13Sau đó, Chúa Giê-xu trở ra bờ biển giảng dạy; dân chúng tụ họp quanh Ngài.

14Đi dọc theo bờ biển, Chúa thấy Lê-vi, con An-phê đang làm việc tại sở thu thuế, Ngài bảo: “Hãy theo Ta và trở nên môn đệ Ta!” Lê-vi liền đứng dậy và theo Ngài.

15Tối hôm đó, Chúa Giê-xu và các môn đệ dự tiệc tại nhà Lê-vi. Nhiều người thu thuế, bạn Lê-vi, và những người mang tiếng xấu trong xã hội, đi theo Chúa và ngồi ăn chung với Ngài.

16Mấy thầy dạy luật và Pha-ri-si thấy Chúa ăn uống với những người này, liền hỏi môn đệ Ngài: “Tại sao Thầy các anh ngồi ăn chung với hạng người đó?”

17Chúa Giê-xu liền đáp: “Vì người bệnh mới cần y sĩ, chứ khỏe mạnh không cần! Ta đến trần gian không phải để thuyết giảng cho người thánh thiện, nhưng để kêu gọi người có tội quay về Đức Chúa Trời.”

Thảo Luận về Kiêng Ăn

18Một hôm, môn đệ của Giăng và các thầy Pha-ri-si đều kiêng ăn. Họ đến hỏi Chúa Giê-xu: “Tại sao môn đệ của Thầy không kiêng ăn như chúng tôi?”

19Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Bạn chàng rể có kiêng ăn trong ngày cưới không? Nếu chàng rể còn đó, họ chẳng kiêng ăn đâu!

20Nhưng khi chàng rể ra đi, họ không thiết gì đến ăn uống nữa!

21Không ai vá miếng vải mới vào áo cũ, vì miếng vá sẽ toạc ra, và đường rách càng rộng hơn.

22Cũng không ai đổ rượu mới vào bầu da cũ, vì rượu sẽ làm nứt bầu, rượu chảy hết mà bầu cũng hỏng. Rượu mới phải đổ vào bầu mới.”

Thảo Luận về Ngày Sa-bát

23Vào một ngày Sa-bát, Chúa Giê-xu và các môn đệ đi ngang qua đồng lúa mì. Thấy các môn đệ Chúa hái bông lúa,

24mấy thầy Pha-ri-si liền phàn nàn với Chúa Giê-xu: “Kìa, tại sao họ hái lúa vào ngày Sa-bát?”

25Nhưng Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Các ông chưa đọc chuyện Đa-vít và các bạn đồng hành bị đói sao?

26Vua vào trong nhà của Đức Chúa Trời (thời A-bia-tha giữ chức thầy thượng tế) ăn bánh thánh dành riêng cho các thầy tế lễ, và phân phát cho các bạn cùng ăn. Việc ấy cũng trái luật!”

27Rồi Chúa Giê-xu phán với họ: “Ngày Sa-bát được lập ra để giúp loài người, chứ không phải loài người được tạo nên để phục vụ ngày Sa-bát.

28Cho nên, Con Ngườicũng là Chúa của ngày Sa-bát!”

Jesus Heals a Paralytic

1A few days later Jesus went back to Capernaum. And when the people heard that He was home,

2they gathered in such large numbers that there was no more room, not even outside the door, as Jesus spoke the word to them.

3Then a paralytic was brought to Him, carried by four men.

4Since they were unable to get to Jesus through the crowd, they uncovered the roof above Him, made an opening, and lowered the paralytic on his mat.

5When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”

6But some of the scribes were sitting there and thinking in their hearts,

7“Why does this man speak like this? He is blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

8At once Jesus knew in His spirit that they were thinking this way within themselves. “Why are you thinking these things in your hearts?” He asked.

9“Which is easier: to say to a paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, pick up your mat, and walk’?

10But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins...” He said to the paralytic,

11“I tell you, get up, pick up your mat, and go home.”

12And immediately the man got up, picked up his mat, and walked out in front of them all. As a result, they were all astounded and glorified God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”

Jesus Calls Levi

13Once again Jesus went out beside the sea. All the people came to Him, and He taught them there.

14As He was walking along, He saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax booth. “Follow Me,” He told him, and Levi got up and followed Him.

15While Jesus was dining at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with Him and His disciples—for there were many who followed Him.

16When the scribes who were Pharisees saw Jesus eating with these people, they asked His disciples, “Why does He eatwith tax collectors and sinners?”

17On hearing this, Jesus told them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Questions about Fasting

18Now John’s disciples and the Pharisees were often fasting. So people came to Jesus and asked, “Why don’t Your disciples fast like John’s disciples and those of the Pharisees?”

19Jesus replied, “How can the guests of the bridegroom fast while He is with them? As long as He is with them, they cannot fast.

20But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast.

The Patches and the Wineskins

21No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. If he does, the new piece will pull away from the old, and a worse tear will result.

22And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. Instead, new wine is poured into new wineskins.”

The Lord of the Sabbath

23One Sabbath Jesus was passing through the grainfields, and His disciples began to pick the heads of grain as they walked along.

24So the Pharisees said to Him, “Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?”

25Jesus replied, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need?

26During the high priesthood of Abiathar, he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread,which was lawful only for the priests. And he gave some to his companions as well.”

27Then Jesus declared, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.

28Therefore, the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”
