Matthew

1And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain, and when he was set down, his disciples came unto him.

2And opening his mouth, he taught them, saying:

3Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4Blessed are the meek: for they shall possess the land.

5Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

6Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after justice: for they shall have their fill.

7Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

8Blessed are the clean of heart: for they shall see God.

9Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called children of God.

10Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11Blessed are ye when they shall revile you, and persecute you, and speak all that is evil against you, untruly, for my sake:

12Be glad and rejoice, for your reward is very great in heaven. For so they persecuted the prophets that were before you.

13You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt lose its savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is good for nothing any more but to be cast out, and to be trodden on by men.

14You are the light of the world. A city seated on a mountain cannot be hid.

15Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but upon a candlestick, that it may shine to all that are in the house.

16So let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

17Do not think that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets. I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.

18For amen I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot, or one tittle shall not pass of the law, till all be fulfilled.

19He therefore that shall break one of these least commandments, and shall so teach men, shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven. But he that shall do and teach, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20For I tell you, that unless your justice abound more than that of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

21You have heard that it was said to them of old: Thou shalt not kill. And whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment.

22But I say to you, that whosoever is angry with his brother, shall be in danger of the judgment. And whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council. And whosoever shall say, Thou Fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

23If therefore thou offer thy gift at the altar, and there thou remember that thy brother hath any thing against thee;

24Leave there thy offering before the altar, and go first to be reconciled to thy brother: and then coming thou shalt offer thy gift.

25Be at agreement with thy adversary betimes, whilst thou art in the way with him: lest perhaps the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

26Amen I say to thee, thou shalt not go out from thence till thou repay the last farthing.

27You have heard that it was said to them of old: Thou shalt not commit adultery.

28But I say to you, that whosoever shall look on a woman to lust after her, hath already committed adultery with her in his heart.

29And if thy right eye scandalize thee, pluck it out and cast it from thee. For it is expedient for thee that one of thy members should perish, rather than that thy whole body be cast into hell.

30And if thy right hand scandalize thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is expedient for thee that one of thy members should perish, rather than that thy whole body be cast into hell.

31And it hath been said, whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a bill of divorce.

32But I say to you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, excepting for the cause of fornication, maketh her to commit adultery: and he that shall marry her that is put away, committeth adultery.

33Again you have heard that it was said to them of old, Thou shalt not forswear thyself: but thou shalt perform thy oaths to the Lord.

34But I say to you not to swear at all, neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God:

35Nor by the earth, for it is his footstool: nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great king:

36Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.

37But let your speech be yea, yea: no, no: and that which is over and above these, is of evil.

38You have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.

39But I say to you not to resist evil: but if one strike thee on thy right cheek, turn to him also the other:

40And if a man will contend with thee in judgment, and take away thy coat, let go thy cloak also unto him.

41And whosoever will force thee one mile, go with him other two,

42Give to him that asketh of thee and from him that would borrow of thee turn not away.

43You have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thy enemy.

44But I say to you, Love your enemies: do good to them that hate you: and pray for them that persecute and calumniate you:

45That you may be the children of your Father who is in heaven, who maketh his sun to rise upon the good, and bad, and raineth upon the just and the unjust.

46For if you love them that love you, what reward shall you have? do not even the publicans this?

47And if you salute your brethren only, what do you more? do not also the heathens this?

48Be you therefore perfect, as also your heavenly Father is perfect.

山上寶訓

1耶穌看見這許多的人，就上了山，既已坐下，門徒到他跟前來，

2他就開口教訓他們，說：

論福

3虛心的人有福了！ 因為天國是他們的。

4哀慟的人有福了！ 因為他們必得安慰。

5溫柔的人有福了！ 因為他們必承受地土。

6飢渴慕義的人有福了！ 因為他們必得飽足。

7憐恤人的人有福了！ 因為他們必蒙憐恤。

8清心的人有福了！ 因為他們必得見上帝。

9使人和睦的人有福了！ 因為他們必稱為上帝的兒子。

10為義受逼迫的人有福了！ 因為天國是他們的。

11「人若因我辱罵你們，逼迫你們，捏造各樣壞話毀謗你們，你們就有福了！

12應當歡喜快樂，因為你們在天上的賞賜是大的。在你們以前的先知，人也是這樣逼迫他們。」

鹽和光

13「你們是世上的鹽。鹽若失了味，怎能叫它再鹹呢？以後無用，不過丟在外面，被人踐踏了。

14你們是世上的光。城造在山上是不能隱藏的。

15人點燈，不放在斗底下，是放在燈臺上，就照亮一家的人。

16你們的光也當這樣照在人前，叫他們看見你們的好行為，便將榮耀歸給你們在天上的父。」

論律法

17「莫想我來要廢掉律法和先知。我來不是要廢掉，乃是要成全。

18我實在告訴你們，就是到天地都廢去了，律法的一點一畫也不能廢去，都要成全。

19所以，無論何人廢掉這誡命中最小的一條，又教訓人這樣做，他在天國要稱為最小的。但無論何人遵行這誡命，又教訓人遵行，他在天國要稱為大的。

20我告訴你們，你們的義若不勝於文士和法利賽人的義，斷不能進天國。」

論發怒

21「你們聽見有吩咐古人的話，說：『不可殺人』；又說：『凡殺人的難免受審判。』

22只是我告訴你們，凡向弟兄動怒的，難免受審判；凡罵弟兄是拉加的，難免公會的審判；凡罵弟兄是魔利的，難免地獄的火。

23所以，你在祭壇上獻禮物的時候，若想起弟兄向你懷怨，

24就把禮物留在壇前，先去同弟兄和好，然後來獻禮物。

25你同告你的對頭還在路上，就趕緊與他和息，恐怕他把你送給審判官，審判官交付衙役，你就下在監裏了。

26我實在告訴你，若有一文錢沒有還清，你斷不能從那裏出來。」

論姦淫

27「你們聽見有話說：『不可姦淫。』

28只是我告訴你們，凡看見婦女就動淫念的，這人心裏已經與她犯姦淫了。

29若是你的右眼叫你跌倒，就剜出來丟掉，寧可失去百體中的一體，不叫全身丟在地獄裏。

30若是右手叫你跌倒，就砍下來丟掉，寧可失去百體中的一體，不叫全身下入地獄。」

論休妻

31「又有話說：『人若休妻，就當給她休書。』

32只是我告訴你們，凡休妻的，若不是為淫亂的緣故，就是叫她作淫婦了；人若娶這被休的婦人，也是犯姦淫了。」

論起誓

33「你們又聽見有吩咐古人的話，說：『不可背誓，所起的誓總要向主謹守。』

34只是我告訴你們，甚麼誓都不可起。不可指着天起誓，因為天是上帝的座位；

35不可指着地起誓，因為地是他的腳凳；也不可指着耶路撒冷起誓，因為耶路撒冷是大君的京城；

36又不可指着你的頭起誓，因為你不能使一根頭髮變黑變白了。

37你們的話，是，就說是；不是，就說不是；若再多說就是出於那惡者。」

論報復

38「你們聽見有話說：『以眼還眼，以牙還牙。』

39只是我告訴你們，不要與惡人作對。有人打你的右臉，連左臉也轉過來由他打；

40有人想要告你，要拿你的裏衣，連外衣也由他拿去；

41有人強逼你走一里路，你就同他走二里；

42有求你的，就給他；有向你借貸的，不可推辭。」

論愛仇敵

43「你們聽見有話說：『當愛你的鄰舍，恨你的仇敵。』

44只是我告訴你們，要愛你們的仇敵，為那逼迫你們的禱告。

45這樣就可以作你們天父的兒子；因為他叫日頭照好人，也照歹人；降雨給義人，也給不義的人。

46你們若單愛那愛你們的人，有甚麼賞賜呢？就是稅吏不也是這樣行嗎？

47你們若單請你弟兄的安，比人有甚麼長處呢？就是外邦人不也是這樣行嗎？

48所以，你們要完全，像你們的天父完全一樣。」
