1And it came to pass after this, that David defeated the Philistines, and humbled them, and took away Geth, and her daughters out of the hands of the Philistines,

2And he defeated Moab, and the Moabites were made David’s servants, and brought him gifts.

3At that time David defeated also Adarezer king of Soba of the land of Hemath, when he went to extend his dominions as far as the river Euphrates.

4And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen, and he houghed all the chariot horses, only a hundred chariots, which he reserved for himself.

5And the Syrians of Damascus came also to help Adarezer king of Soba: and David slew of them likewise two and twenty thousand men.

6And he put a garrison in Damascus, that Syria also should serve him, and bring gifts. And the Lord assisted him in all things to which he went.

7And David took the golden quivers which the servants of Adarezer had, and he brought them to Jerusalem.

8Likewise out of Thebath and Chun, cities of Adarezer, he brought very much brass, of which Solomon made the brazen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.

9Now when Thou king of Hemath heard that David had defeated all the army of Adarezer king of Soba,

10He sent Adoram his son to king David, to desire peace of him, and to congratulate him that he had defeated and overthrown Adarezer: for Thou was an enemy to Adarezer.

11And all the vessels of gold, and silver, and brass king David consecrated to the Lord, with the silver and gold which he had taken from all the nations, as well from Edom, and from Moab, and from the sons of Ammon, as from the Philistines, and from Amalec.

12And Abisai the son of Sarvia slew of the Edomites in the vale of the saltpits, eighteen thousand:

13And he put a garrison in Edom, that Edom should serve David: and the Lord preserved David in all things to which he went.

14So David reigned over all Israel, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.

15And Joab the son of Sarvia was over the army, and Josaphat the son of Ahilud recorder.

16And Sadoc the son of Achitob, and Achimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests: and Susa, scribe.

17And Banaias the son of Joiada was over the bands of the Cerethi, and the Phelethi: and the sons of David were chief about the king.

1Sau đó, vua Đa-vít đánh bại người Phi-li-tinh và hạ nhục chúng. Vua chiếm lấy Gát và các vùng phụ cận, khỏi tay người Phi-li-tinh.

2Vua đánh bại người Mô-áp, người Mô-áp phải làm nô lệ cho vua Đa-vít và triều cống vua.

3Vua Đa-vít đánh bại Ha-đát-e-de vua nước Xô-va về phía Kha-mát, khi vua này đi tái lập chủ quyền trên vùng sông Êu-phơ-rát.

4Vua Đa-vít bắt được của vua ấy một ngàn chiến xa, bảy ngàn kỵ binh và hai mươi ngàn bộ binh ; và vua Đa-vít đã cắt gân chân tất cả những con ngựa kéo xe, chỉ chừa lại một trăm.

5Người A-ram ở Đa-mát đến cứu viện Ha-đát-e-de vua Xô-va, nhưng vua Đa-vít đã hạ của A-ram hai mươi ngàn người.

6Vua Đa-vít đặt những trấn thủ cai trị người A-ram ở Đa-mát, và người A-ram phải làm nô lệ cho vua Đa-vít và triều cống vua. ĐỨC CHÚA đã cho vua Đa-vít đi đâu thắng đó.

7Vua Đa-vít lấy các khiên vàng mà tôi tớ vua Ha-đát-e-de mang, và đưa về Giê-ru-sa-lem.

8Và từ Típ-khát và Cun, các thành của vua Ha-đát-e-de, vua Đa-vít lấy được rất nhiều đồng, sau này vua Sa-lô-môn dùng đồng ấy làm bể nước, làm cột và các vật dụng khác.

9Nghe tin vua Đa-vít đã đánh tan toàn bộ lực lượng của Ha-đát-e-de vua Xô-va,

10Tô-u vua Kha-mát liền sai con là Ha-đô-ram đến vấn an và chúc mừng vua Đa-vít vì vua đã chiến đấu với Ha-đát-e-de và đánh bại vua ấy – đó là vì vua Tô-u cũng đã khai chiến với Ha-đát-e-de. Vua Tô-u còn gửi tặng vua Đa-vít đủ thứ vật dụng bằng vàng, bạc và đồng.

11Vua Đa-vít cũng thánh hiến cho ĐỨC CHÚA tất cả các vật dụng ấy cùng với vàng bạc vua đã lấy được của tất cả các dân Ê-đôm, Mô-áp, con cái Am-mon, Phi-li-tinh và A-ma-lếch.

12Ông Áp-sai con bà Xơ-ru-gia đánh bại quân Ê-đôm tại thung lũng Muối, giết chết mười tám ngàn người.

13Ông đặt những trấn thủ cai trị tại Ê-đôm. Toàn dân Ê-đôm phải làm nô lệ vua Đa-vít, và ĐỨC CHÚA đã cho vua Đa-vít đi đâu thắng đó.

14Vua Đa-vít trị vì toàn thể Ít-ra-en và thực hiện điều chính trực công minh cho toàn dân.

15Ông Giô-áp con bà Xơ-ru-gia, chỉ huy quân đội ; ông Giơ-hô-sa-phát, con ông A-khi-lút, làm quốc vụ khanh ;

16ông Xa-đốc, con ông A-khi-túp, và ông A-vi-me-léc, con ông Ép-gia-tha, làm tư tế ; ông Sau-sa làm ký lục ;

17ông Bơ-na-gia-hu, con ông Giơ-hô-gia-đa chỉ huy quân Cơ-rê-thi và quân Pơ-lê-thi. Các con vua Đa-vít là những đệ nhất cận thần của vua.
