Proverbs

1酒能使人亵慢，浓酒使人喧嚷； 凡因酒错误的，就无智慧。

2王的威吓如同狮子吼叫； 惹动他怒的，是自害己命。

3远离纷争是人的尊荣； 愚妄人都爱争闹。

4懒惰人因冬寒不肯耕种， 到收割的时候，他必讨饭而无所得。

5人心怀藏谋略，好像深水， 惟明哲人才能汲引出来。

6人多述说自己的仁慈， 但忠信人谁能遇着呢？

7行为纯正的义人， 他的子孙是有福的！

8王坐在审判的位上， 以眼目驱散诸恶。

9谁能说，我洁净了我的心， 我脱净了我的罪？

10两样的法码，两样的升斗， 都为耶和华所憎恶。

11孩童的动作是清洁，是正直， 都显明他的本性。

12能听的耳，能看的眼， 都是耶和华所造的。

13不要贪睡，免致贫穷； 眼要睁开，你就吃饱。

14买物的说：不好，不好； 及至买去，他便自夸。

15有金子和许多珍珠， 惟有知识的嘴乃为贵重的珍宝。

16谁为生人作保，就拿谁的衣服； 谁为外人作保，谁就要承当。

17以虚谎而得的食物，人觉甘甜； 但后来，他的口必充满尘沙。

18计谋都凭筹算立定； 打仗要凭智谋。

19往来传舌的，泄漏密事； 大张嘴的，不可与他结交。

20咒骂父母的，他的灯必灭， 变为漆黑的黑暗。

21起初速得的产业， 终久却不为福。

22你不要说，我要以恶报恶； 要等候耶和华，他必拯救你。

23两样的法码为耶和华所憎恶； 诡诈的天平也为不善。

24人的脚步为耶和华所定； 人岂能明白自己的路呢？

25人冒失说，这是圣物， 许愿之后才查问，就是自陷网罗。

26智慧的王簸散恶人， 用碌碡滚轧他们。

27人的灵是耶和华的灯， 鉴察人的心腹。

28王因仁慈和诚实得以保全他的国位， 也因仁慈立稳。

29强壮乃少年人的荣耀； 白发为老年人的尊荣。

30鞭伤除净人的罪恶； 责打能入人的心腹。

1Wine is a luxurious thing, and drunkenness riotous: whosoever is delighted therewith shell not be wise.

2As the roaring of a lion, so also is the dread of a king: he that provoketh him, sinneth against his own soul.

3It is an honour for a man to separate himself from quarrels: but all fools are meddling with reproaches.

4Because of the cold the sluggard would not plough: he shall beg therefore in the summer, and it shall not be given him.

5Counsel in the heart of a man is like deep water: but a wise man will draw it out.

6Many men are called merciful: but who shall find a faithful man?

7The just that walketh in his simplicity, shall leave behind him blessed children.

8The king, that sitteth on the throne of judgment, scattereth away all evil with his look.

9Who can say: My heart is clean, I am pure from sin?

10Diverse weights and diverse measures, both are abominable before God.

11By his inclinations a child is known, if his works be clean and right.

12The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the Lord hath made them both.

13Love not sleep, lest poverty oppress thee: open thy eyes, and be filled with bread.

14It is nought, it is nought, saith every buyer: and when he is gone away, then he will boast.

15There is gold, and a multitude of jewels: but the lips of knowledge are a precious vessel.

16Take away the garment of him that is surety for a stranger, and take a pledge from him for strangers.

17The bread of lying is sweet to a man: but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.

18Designs are strengthened by counsels: and wars are to be managed by governments.

19Meddle not with him that revealeth secrets, and walketh deceitfully, and openeth wide his lips.

20He that curseth his father, and mother, his lamp shall be put out in the midst of darkness.

21The inheritance gotten hastily in the beginning, in the end shall be without a blessing.

22Say not: I will return evil: wait for the Lord and he will deliver thee.

23Diverse weights are an abomination before the Lord: a deceitful balance is not good.

24The steps of man are guided by the Lord: but who is the man that can understand his own way?

25It is ruin to a man to devour holy ones, and after vows to retract.

26A wise king scattereth the wicked, and bringeth over them the wheel.

27The spirit of a man is the lamp of the Lord, which searcheth all the hidden things of the bowels.

28Mercy and truth preserve the king, and his throne is strengthened by clemency.

29The joy of young men is their strength: and the dignity of old men, their grey hairs.

30The blueness of a wound shall wipe away evils: and stripes in the more inward parts of the belly.
