Jesus Heals on the Sabbath

1Once again Jesus entered the synagogue, and a man with a withered hand was there.

2In order to accuse Jesus, they were watching to see if He would heal on the Sabbath.

3Then Jesus said to the man with the withered hand, “Stand up among us.”

4And He asked them, “Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy it?” But they were silent.

5Jesus looked around at them with anger and sorrow at their hardness of heart. Then He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” So he stretched it out, and it was restored.

6At this, the Pharisees went out and began plotting with the Herodians how they might kill Jesus.

Jesus Heals the Multitudes

7So Jesus withdrew with His disciples to the sea, accompanied by a large crowd from Galilee, Judea,

8Jerusalem, Idumea, the region beyond the Jordan, and the vicinity of Tyre and Sidon. The large crowd came to Him when they heard what great things He was doing.

9Jesus asked His disciples to have a boat ready for Him so that the crowd would not crush Him.

10For He had healed so many that all who had diseases were pressing forward to touch Him.

11And when the unclean spirits saw Him, they fell down before Him and cried out, “You are the Son of God!”

12But He warned them sternly not to make Him known.

The Twelve Apostles

13Then Jesus went up on the mountain and called for those He wanted, and they came to Him.

14He appointed twelve of them, whom He designated as apostles,to accompany Him, to be sent out to preach,

15and to have authorityto drive out demons.

16These are the twelve He appointed:Simon (whom He named Peter),

17James son of Zebedee and his brother John (whom He named Boanerges, meaning “Sons of Thunder”),

18Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot,

19and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Jesus.

A House Divided

20Then Jesus went home,and once again a crowd gathered, so that He and His disciples could not even eat.

21When His family heard about this, they went out to take custody of Him, saying, “He is out of His mind.”

22And the scribes who had come down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and, “By the prince of the demons He drives out demons.”

23So Jesus called them together and began to speak to them in parables: “How can Satan drive out Satan?

24If a kingdom is divided against itself, it cannot stand.

25If a house is divided against itself, it cannot stand.

26And if Satan is divided and rises against himself, he cannot stand; his end has come.

27Indeed, no one can enter a strong man’s house to steal his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he can plunder his house.

The Unpardonable Sin

28Truly I tell you, the sons of men will be forgiven all sins and blasphemies, as many as they utter.

29But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of eternal sin.”

30Jesus made this statement because they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.”

Jesus’ Mother and Brothers

31Then Jesus’ mother and brothers came and stood outside. They sent someone in to summon Him,

32and a crowd was sitting around Him. “Look,” He was told, “Your mother and brothersare outside, asking for You.”

33But Jesus replied, “Who are My mother and My brothers?”

34Looking at those seated in a circle around Him, He said, “Here are My mother and My brothers!

35For whoever does the will of God is My brother and sister and mother.”

Chúa Giê-xu Chữa Bệnh trong Ngày Sa-bát

1Lần khác, Chúa Giê-xu đến hội đường, gặp một người bị teo bàn tay.

2Hôm ấy nhằm ngày Sa-bát, người ta chăm chú theo dõi xem Chúa có chữa bệnh cho người ấy không, để lấy cớ tố cáo Ngài.

3Chúa Giê-xu phán bảo người teo tay: “Hãy đi và đứng trước mặt mọi người.”

4Rồi Chúa quay sang hỏi họ: “Trong ngày Sa-bát, làm điều thiện là hợp pháp, hay làm điều ác? Ngày ấy nên cứu người hay hại người?” Nhưng không ai dám trả lời.

5Chúa đưa mắt nhìn họ, vừa giận vừa buồn vì họ dửng dưng trước khổ đau của đồng loại. Ngài bảo người teo tay: “Con xòe bàn tay ra!” Anh vâng lời, bàn tay liền được lành!

6Các thầy Pha-ri-si ra về, liền họp với đảng Hê-rốt tìm mưu giết Chúa Giê-xu.

Đoàn Dân Theo Chúa Giê-xu

7Chúa Giê-xu và các môn đệ đến bờ biển. Một đoàn dân đông đảo đi theo Chúa. Họ đến từ Ga-li-lê, Giu-đê,

8Giê-ru-sa-lem, I-đu-mê, miền đông sông Giô-đan, và từ những nơi xa xôi như Ty-rơ, Si-đôn. Họ nghe tin đồn về các phép lạ Chúa làm, nên kéo nhau đến gặp Ngài.

9Chúa Giê-xu dặn các môn đệ chuẩn bị một chiếc thuyền, phòng khi bị dân chúng xô đẩy thì Ngài lên thuyền.

10Chúa chữa lành cho nhiều người, nên vô số người bệnh chen lấn quanh Ngài, cố sờ Ngài cho được.

11Những người bị quỷ ám thấy Ngài liền quỳ xuống, lớn tiếng thưa: “Thầy là Con Đức Chúa Trời!”

12Nhưng Chúa Giê-xu nghiêm cấm chúng không được nói cho người ta biết về Ngài.

Chúa Giê-xu Chọn Mười Hai Sứ Đồ

13Chúa Giê-xu đi lên núi, gọi theo một số người Ngài lựa chọn.

14Chúa bổ nhiệm mười hai sứ đồ để họ theo Ngài thường xuyên, và sai họ đi công bố Phúc Âm

15với quyền năng đuổi quỷ.

16Đây là tên mười hai sứ đồ: Si-môn (Chúa đặt tên là Phi-e-rơ)

17Gia-cơ và Giăng, (con của Xê-bê-đê, nhưng Chúa Giê-xu gọi họ là “Con của Sấm Sét”),

18Anh-rê, Phi-líp, Ba-thê-lê-my, Ma-thi-ơ, Thô-ma, Gia-cơ (con của An-phê), Tha-đê Si-môn (đảng viên Xê-lốt),

19Giu-đa Ích-ca-ri-ốt (về sau phản Chúa).

Chúa Giê-xu và Quỷ Vương

20Khi Chúa Giê-xu trở về nhà, dân chúng tụ họp mỗi lúc một đông, đến nỗi Ngài không có thì giờ ăn uống.

21Gia đìnhNgài được tin, liền tìm cách cầm giữ Ngài, vì cho rằng Ngài bị mất trí.

22Nhưng các thầy dạy luật từ Giê-ru-sa-lem về lại nói: “Ông ấy bị quỷ Sa-tanám nên nhờ quyền của quỷ vương để đuổi quỷ.”

23Chúa Giê-xu mời những người đó đến, giải thích: “Làm sao Sa-tan có thể đuổi Sa-tan?

24Một nước chia rẽ phải sụp đổ,

25một gia đình chia rẽ phải tan nát.

26Nếu Sa-tan chống lại Sa-tan, nước nó sẽ bị chia rẽ, không còn tồn tại nữa.

27Không ai vào nhà một người chủ nô cường bạo để giải cứu đám nô lệ mà trước hết không trói người ấy lại. Nếu không thắng Sa-tan, không thể đuổi quỷ sứ của nó được.

28Ta quả quyết với các ông, mọi tội lỗi và lời xúc phạm của loài người đều có thể được tha.

29Nhưng ai xúc phạm đến Chúa Thánh Linh sẽ chẳng bao giờ được tha. Đó là một tội đời đời.”

30Chúa bảo thế, vì trong khi Ngài nhờ quyền năng Chúa Thánh Linh để đuổi quỷ, họ vẫn nói rằng Ngài nhờ quỷ vương.

Gia Đình Thật của Chúa Giê-xu

31Mẹ và các em Chúa Giê-xu đến thăm Chúa. Họ đứng bên ngoài và nhờ người gọi Ngài.

32Đám đông đang ngồi chung quanh Chúa Giê-xu, có người thưa với Ngài: “Mẹ và các em Thầy ở phía ngoài, muốn gặp Thầy.”

33Chúa Giê-xu hỏi: “Ai là mẹ Ta, ai là em Ta?”

34Quay nhìn những người ngồi chung quanh, Ngài bảo: “Đây là mẹ Ta và anh chị em Ta.

35Vì tất cả những người làm theo ý muốn Đức Chúa Trời đều là anh em, chị em, và mẹ Ta.”
